I was amazed even back in HW that they managed to make a drop system WORSE than normal dungeons. Truly impressive.

...so you'd rather have a loot-system like in normal dungeons? Aka: the chest drops two random pieces of gear, might not even be for your class - might not even be for ANY class in the group! - and repeat that until you dont only see the drop that you want (could take a while...) but also win it?
I honestly dont understand why people are so extremly upset with this system - Sigma loot is a nice bonus, nothing else and the tokens allow you to be fairly flexible on what you wanna get.
You can always team up via PF or with friends and run it only a few times til everyone gets the loot they desire if you're so upset about losing in DF all the time - put that little bit of effort in or be happy with what you can grab.
If running content more than once to get your stuff is so upsetting to you, MMOs might not be the right genre for you to play.
+1 to improving the system, not have it convoluted, and not have unnecessary currency items in our inventory.
At this point I know a few that hits need on everything, gets their item and result is running it once or twice a week. With the current treadmill system, there is little to no reason to go after specific items, making the idea "make people keep queuing" a moot point.
So you'd all rather have max ilvl BiS sets in about 2 weeks of a patch drop? You do realise this would gate raid content even harder right? The easier ilvl is to obtain to higher the reqs in PF will be. What happens if a player (like me) has no crafters and has no disposable gil to buy a full HQ crafted set? Welp guess we aren't doing anything interesting then! Everything would ask for ilvl350 minimum in PF and we'd still be stuck in ilvl 340. This system actually slows down the arms race to out gear content. The first 7 weeks is where the going is good as things pose somewhat of a challenge before being trivialized until the next raid comes along and the cycle starts anew.
The community being filled to the brim with halfwits is not a valid excuse for... anything, really.
Create your own PF, join a PF that isn't full of people looking for a carry, etc. People still post up PFs looking for tanks, that have an ilvl set well above the BiS for tanks. That's just on them.
Someone will always complain.
Personally I like this system because it usually means everyone in the instance has the same chance to get their item. You don't gotta have a run where your stuff just DOESN'T DROP. Every run there's a chance you'll get your stuff for the week. The RNG is in the roll now instead of the item type.
it takes 5 weeks to get everything but the weapon token...it's not that bad.
