I would be nice if they changed it. It’s not like there aren’t any other words that would fit the bill. They can choose another term that doesn’t mean something strange/unfitting to any English speaker. I’ve played another American made game where they have changed initial names for things because they meant something totally different in another English speaking country. I don’t think asking if they could change the name is an unreasonable request.
If they don’t they don’t, it’s not a big deal, but still worth putting it out there.
Not french, not canadian, not american here o/ but commode in spanish gets translated as "cómoda", and a "cómoda" is usually the furniture where you put your clothes. So it doesn't bother me that it's called like that, what bothers me is that it could've been way better, like a Log or something.
While we're at it, let's not call them "Glamour" prisms anymore. I'd much rather have the alternate English translation: "Mirage" prism.
That's my thoughts on this, byeee.
In portuguese, "cómoda" is just a chest of drawers where you store clothes. Was kinda confused about the title of this thread as I had no idea what this term means for people in other english speaking countries.
This is from the original thread that was alarmed about this: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...e-word-Commode
In other news, maybe they thought our demands for this system was... shitty? Bah dum tss.
Because a Glamour Armoire totally wouldn't work.
