Gearing Several Jobs survey

I'm ok with how things are, but if this was implemented I'd want the caps to be role-based, not job-based. Otherwise a person with 3 level 70 tanks will gear up faster than someone with only one level 70 tank job, and then we have another situation where people's job choices make them left behind on progression.

At best I can gear to 305...I do not do the Omega raid since I find the storyline boring. Royal City will help. But you have to understand not everyone raids so we are stuck with dungeon or tome gear.

So THATS the problem. It's not friendly to everyone esp to those who don't raid for one reason or another.

Would not adding a tome cap per job do the same and force you to play that job regardless in a way? It can be optional.



As for why scripts, there are a few benefits to this;



First it would encourage people to craft and gather to earn gill and not complain that it's too hard to make a gill now a days.

Second help those of us that actually do optional content that is less desired being not everyone likes to do it.

but the normal raids are hardly really a raid they are no more challenging than a trail roullete so id say dont hold yourself back from those at the least

There isn't anything in the normal progression you can't do with verity tier gear. Given if you want to be "optimal" you're limited which one, but I don't see why you'd think "I don't have creation tome gear on this class.. I can't do endgame stuff with it".

That being said I'd say it's nearing time for the tome cap to be released so people can catch up whatever class they'd like for the new stuff. I don't like time gating, but for the business and retaining customers I understand why it's there.

while your right its nothing you cant do with verity gear on , but tbh gear drastically for some increases their dps so it does make a difference, some people just simply cant do optimal dps in lower level gear that takes a certain amount of skill. And thats why gear helps out so much, its to much gating in this game way to much like I was so upset when I realized I couldnt even upgrade my creationo sword. Now I dont even know if its worth even getting another one its just a bit to much sometimes to gate every single thing.

This is probably the most obvious answer to everything for tomes. Blue tomes for tanks, red tomes for DPS, green tombs for healers. You'd still be able to gear up multiple classes but you cant max out a whole set of either group.

Its true they use largely the same gear anyway but getting all 3 weapons at the same time would be iffy.

Good point. The most hardcore raiders would need ever job that shares their tome gear leveled up just to stay competitive for every new raid patch if this was only locked on class.

I'm not understanding the argument of your first point. If the tomes cap were to be expanded to be per job, this would give people the option to play/gear more jobs if it suits their fancy. That's a good thing. People wouldn't be "forced" to suddenly start gearing jobs they have no interest in playing.

And your points for the DoL expansion could be seen the same way for DoW/M classes.

1) Would (potentially) encourage people to try out other jobs that they ignored now that they can gear at a decent pace. More people leveling jobs, more active the dungeons and roulettes would be
2) If more people branch out and level other jobs, this could, in theory, provide quicker queues as more people may want to try out the less-desireable healing/tanking jobs
3) Less time spent gearing those alternate jobs you thought you'd never be able to gear. Lets you enjoy content you want, playing the job you want, in decent gear (sooner).

Obviously there are a lot of "ifs" and speculation built into the statements above, so I'm not claiming any of this as fact. I don't think everyone would suddenly start leveling healing/tanking jobs just due to gear being more open, just like I don't think more people would suddenly start gathering/crafting due to the same reasons. More flexibility is rarely a bad thing in MMOs.

Even having a cap per role would be a huge step in the right direction IMO. However, I don't really agree on the situation potentially leaving others behind on progression. This game is designed so that no one can get that far ahead, so I'm not seeing the real harm here.

That's largely because it's an endless treadmill thay replaces everything ultra fast. and it gets really tiring. Also you simply don't need better gear most of the time.

I mean how much of the games content can a player access with just verity gear?

You simply don't need anything better. And going after better and better gear that you'll never actually need gets incredibly tiring and frustrating.

I think that's why this game has such a huge issue with player retention. There was that thing not long ago about 10 million registered players milestone. But less than 5% Of them are active subscribers if you assume census data to be remotely accurate.

It's why players don't meld as well. What you meld today you'll toss tomorrow so fek it why bother.

Recently started to think it's also a big part of why people don't bother in general. And leads to that skill gap between players. Because again nothing lasts long enough to be worth any real effort.

Even those super savage weapons. Second 4.2 lands they'll be trash tier junk. Not exactly enticing is it.

And people wonder why people care more about glamour and invest tens of millions in a poncho but won't invest a dime in there actual gear..
