Ishgard housing without snow makes it at lot less unique. Also, I am beginning to don't we can ever get housing items or that dress we see all over the city. I really do hope they revisit Ishgard at some point, so they have the excuse for more items at least.
I mean, for a further-along-in-the-story, I get it, by the end at the very least, it's bound to be less unwelcoming. But it's still gonna seem super awkward to have sub-50 FC mates porting in, effectively sneaking past defenses etc.
Idk. There's probably enough hand-waving that can get through it all. I do agree that housing for each expansion seems like the right thing to do. I just don't really want to see it be so obviously out of place or anything.
I find newbies in the Far East just as strange.
If any remembers, when we fought Garuda, it took place in Coerthas. There was green and no(or very little) snow around. I'm thinking that the housing area could take place around an area like that which will solve the "snow" problem and still have a different feel from The Lavender Beds. While Gridania is completely surrounded by trees, Coerthas feels more like a pine forest that has spacing.
my bet was they would just put the ishgard housing into the sea of clouds. there is no snow, and these floating islands look like they are easily thrown into the world.
not what i want from ishgard housing, but i remember seeing some artwork where the islands float directly over ishgard. and in ishgard itself is no space anyway, the city sits on top of a rock, with nothing around it where you could build a housing district.
using the sea of clouds makes sense.
It would be nice to see a housing ward of Gothic/medieval style homes. The snow would make it unique from the other wards as well. Maybe if they added a FC chest and maybe a few other tweaks it could be a decent hub for players wanting something different.
Kugane and Ishgard are both amazing cities in terms of theme and style and BOTH should have housing wards. Especially since the WoL put an end to a millennia long conflict of Elezen wanting to be the Dragonborn. (my friend's battle cry on his Elezen dragoon was "FUS RO DERP!")
I've been thinking about this lately. I recall them saying that they would implement apartments first, then Ishgardian housing. Instead they bypassed Ishgard for Weebville. I'm currently in The Goblet but, being an Elezen, I'd much prefer Ishgard. It suits my aesthetic both in & out of the game. The idea of me living in Shirogane just makes my skin crawl. Each to their own though.
As for the "snow" problem: hire someone who knows how to use the excellent abilities of DirectX to create dynamic snow to lie on anything placed in the plot's garden. Failing that, use a "frost filter" to make everything look like it has a hoarfrost on it. That is exceptionally easy to do & is already in the game (Shiva uses it).
We earn the title of Knight, and regarded as heroes by commoners and nobles alike. Why we are unable to buy a home in the land that took us in when we were in need is beyond me.
