It's just damage control to get the people who are complaining and spamming the steam reviews with negative reviews soothed, but the damage is already done I guess... Square Enix and in particular FFXIV is a company that truly cares about their subscribers, the community is by far the best out there. Im not in either countries either, but this does put a smile upon my face to see how much they care about their playerbase. No other mmo can compete with Square Enix. <3

While it's true that the "increase" is really more like "they realised something wasn't quite right with BR/RU Steam pricing and fixed it", the issue was the fact that they did so unannounced.Quote:

Well done to the BR/RU players who organised the campaign, you did a very good job of making a mostly peaceful protest which spread awareness very effectively. Especially well done to those who don't usually post much due to the language barrier; it must be hard. I can imagine what a big shock it was to suddenly get the silent price hike, and even though it seems that the gap had to be closed for other reasons you deserved to get proper warning and the chance to prepare.

It truly is heartening to see this sort of action. I'm not from the two countries, but a big thumbs up for executing a very effective solution to the price problem. Truly it is worth of respect; we'll just have to see how the world reacts to it and see if we can take this action as exemplary.

People from the US almost never go out of their way to mention regions, so why would a person playing from Russia, suddenly faced with a massive price hike, go to the trouble of researching the mostly-hidden pricing all over the world before posting a negative review? Hopefully S-E has learnt a bit about customer care here - and it sounds that way from the official response. It was still a much more measured official complaint than the drama we get over other topics here, and significantly more justified. It turned the game into a real luxury for a lot of players and they deserved to at least be told what was happening.Quote:
