I may be wrong, but didn't someone ask for the possibility of an heirloom system at one of the live Q&As? Could've sworn they said they were working on something that was similar?

Heirlooms have a limit - in FF14 they would stop providing XP at 60 if compared to WoW. The armory bonus system is nice and all except it can't apply to the quests that *do not exist* for alt specs...see that is where this whole armory bonus/ play all the classes on one character fails, HARD. Leveling an alt job is a PITA because if you enjoy questing and not doing mind numbing content over and over and over again - you are SoL. In every other MMO I have played (which is a lot...)I always have *many* max level classes because leveling is actually fun in those MMO's - in FF14 the first job is awesome to max and then it is like pulling teeth...literally the only MMO I HATE to level "alts" - talk about slow and boring. *Anything* to speed up the nonsense of leveling alt (battle) jobs in this game would be helpful, including "heirlooms."
Can someone explain to me what the heirloom system is?
I did:
That would be the translation for current FFXIV pretty much. The only thing that can't be done is a way send it to alt characters because this game has a weird phobia of mailing your alts.
Has not done anything to ruin anything, here it would help control inventory issues, something wow does not have a problem with. Meaning they are more needed here. They do need to not have exp bonus though since the Amory bonus already takes care of it, along with some in game gear FFXIV already has.
Not to mention that wow heirlooms were so powerful that you got good results even if you were playing with a crap rotation, which tricked bad players into thinking they were good up until they outleveled their looms and discovered that they were horrible at their class. They couldn't hang at endgame so they'd just roll new alts and level up all over again. Better to be a big fish in a small pond, and all that.
