With all the negativity around war let's talk about the best part of 4.0!

War is probably the strongest tank regarding mitigation on susano. I mean you can have vengeance rampart and IB for literally every tank buster, top it with equilibrium when TB hits. Smooth the damage in between with raw thrill and convalescence. A healer that can't keep a war alive on susano is just trash or the warrior isn't using CD

Who knew that ignoring half your class and only doing the exact same things over and over would make a role easier to play? Must be real hard to do two combos and click IB. WAR in MT is the least complicated tank in the entire game, you have exactly ZERO worries about timing anything beyond when to use IB. Deliverance even in SB requires far more thought.

It's freaking hilarious that supposedly the absolute best way you can think of to play WAR is by ignoring half the class and our brand new level 70 ability. Like I honestly struggle to think of a sentence that would adequately explain just how silly that idea is. In what world is ignoring half your job an indicator of anything good? Name ONE other class in the entire game that ignores their level 70 ability.

That's not great. That's sad.

Also, PLD feels just as invulnerable so that's a really bad argument to make as well and that's not even touching on the fact that WAR was even better in HW with damage mitigation with damage debuff, bloodbath, the cross self heal, and stronger heals from IB/Path.

As for "feeling". I struggle to understand how this new WAR fits the theme more then HW which could do everything you mentioned AND was useful to your team as more then just a "spam inner beast" tank.

Also your dig at FC to use onslaught...I can't even be bothered.

Hmm, so you are saying Conva over Reprisal?

Still don't see why you would not just roll with double Pally, with them sitting in tank stance over a WAR. Given they have access to there nukes we do not, or is sitting in tank stance full flight mean using unchained again and that actually makes up the ground?

PLD/PLD makes every fight trivial. You can get "90%" (quotation marks because that's not exaclty how the reduction formula works) damage reduction with intervention/Sentinel for tank busters. I'd have to do it again but I believe Pull of the Goddess does like 3k damage or something with that combo.

I can say this though, without a doubt with rampart and intervention on the OT with the blue marker when the aura stuff is up, you can actually save them from using their Vril. It's THAT powerful of a combo. And we're talking about an attack that does over 60 thousand damage.

This is what SE was trying to do they have successfully brought the floor up on WAR, staying in defiance is now plausible I might even say acceptable MTing. The problem IMO is that when trying to balance dance as MT, it's so difficult to not have a giant DPS loss when dancing that the effort put in to do so and get that timing down doesnt feel adequately rewarding.

Pretty much says it all. The fact that other tanks can use all of their abilities despite being on tank stance is a huge slap in the face for Warriors. It's especially frustrating because Inner Release is tied to Unchained.

Thanks to stance swapping having a huge penalty, we're pretty much forced to adopt a playstyle similar to the one we had at lower levels as soon as we got Defiance/Unchained! The ONLY difference Stormblood brought was Onslaught and Upheaval. That's it! Shake It Off is useless and our level 70 skill doesn't exist if we want to tank properly.

Yes I don't have an issue with being in defiance for the most part, it's just that by designing that aspect you're literally ignoring half your job and your brand new level 70 ability.

It's very, very, bad design.

Also:

Other tanks - start fight in tank stance, build up as much agro as they want, then switch stances and start doing a whole lot of damage.

Warrior - start fight in tank stance. If you use Unchained, your potential DPS takes a HUGE drop. If you build beast gauge and swap, your DPS takes a HUGE drop. Having to build beast gauge from 0 is a drop in DPS as well. If you do the Storm's Eye -> Onslaught -> Deliverance -> Butcher's Block opener to make sure you start building beast gauge as fast as possible, you risk not getting enough enmity on the the boss. The LONGER you spend building enmity, the more beast gauge you will lose when you swap, and it's just so freakin' painful when you're tanking. Like you can FEEL it inside of you, all that waste. It's ridiculous and not fun at all.

They secretly want to turn all WAR's into DRK's and stop the emo DRK's. That's why we get to feel the waste of beast while DRK's stopped bleeding MP.
