WHM needs either a DPS buff, or utility

Having played AST in the current content, I'm not so sure I agree. WHM sustain is very, very strong now, yes. But AST's MP is not exactly unforgiving. I can toss out supershields and resses at will and still have MP to spare. The shields in particular make mechanics we've seen so far very forgiving.

I do think AST+WHM will be the way to go for huge recovery potential. If/When SE buffs SCH... then I suspect people will want balance + stratagem/fey wind more than resses + more resses. (And, of course, RDM can instacast every res...)

This is also assuming Astrologian isn't nerfed as well. If WHM, and this is an IF not knowing their thinking, is the one they think is right Sch will be buffed a bit and Ast will be brought down a bit.

Atrologian does not have stronger heals than White Mage, at all, also does not have near the same DPS. It has one dot and a weaker spam move. WHM have to very strong dots, assize and a strong filler. Balance needs a nerf, and that's all.

AST's overall healing potential is actually higher than WHMs if you look at the kits in tandem. However, AST's output is limited by their GCDs compared to the massive multitude of oGCD options WHM has thus allowing WHM to have a higher overall throughput.

WHMs have better burst potential
ASTs have better overall potential

Cure Potency: 450 for 600mp
Benefic Potency: 440/460 for 480mp
Cure vs Benefic: About the same, slightly ahead or behind depending on stance

Cure 2 Potency: 700 for 1200mp
Benefic 2 Potency: 715/747.5 for 1080mp
Cure 2 vs Benefic 2: Benefic 2 is always stronger.

Medica Potency: 300 for 1680mp
Helios Potency: 330/345 for 1440mp
Medica vs Helios: Helios is always stronger.

Medica 2 Potency: 200+50 per tick for 2040mp
Aspected Helios Potency (Diurnal only): 220+44 per tick for 1800mp
M2 vs AH: Aspected Helios leads on initial hit by 20 potency, while Medica 2 leads on the HoT effect by 6 potency.

Time will tell. I think right now WHMs don't have as many things to fear as they did during Heavensward. By 3.4 WHM was basically AST minus the cards.

In the current iteration, WHM now offers massive MP sustainability and while AST also has potent sustain due to lower healing costs and extended Lucid Dreaming, they lack the 0MP heals WHM has. WHM also have more burst potential in the form of having Assize, Tetra, Divine Benison, Benediction, and Plenary Indulgence with Pressence of Mind increasing their potential throughput even faster for a brief period of time. This is versus AST's Essential Dignity, Earthly Star, and Lady of Crowns.

Also in your potency post, don't forget that Aspected Benefic > Regen in terms of potency/GCD. You will need to reapply AB more often but that's a small price to pay for an overall stronger passive heal.

Nearly every healer can do everything you just said. Even AST can raise for significantly reduced MP cost, and at a much quicker speed with Lightspeed.

Moreover, none of that sounds even close to a 40s AOE 10% dmg buff.
All you're saying is that WHM is "fine", which it is. But it's lacking something every other healer offers, and once SCH is back on their feet, the problem is going to be made extremely obvious.

Some WHM continues to believe that this job is really weak.... while it is not (and I feel they have a kind of hatred and / or despair). None of the job are perfect, we know.
WHM may have some changes but nothing extraordinary, I think (some tweak in numbers for IP or Lilies, that's it).
