Healing Direction - is the current design balanced?

They are not stuck with a single cure for most of the levelling curve. Levels 1-30 amount for about 22% of the exp required to hit level 50.

:edit: confirmed exp at 30 is 22% by finding a user on xivpads with a level 30 class and viewing the total % earned to max level.

Bull's eye.

Previously we had "choices" to make, wether it was AoE spells, more powerful spell, cheaper spell or a HoT-like mechanic, you had "choices" to make, and making choices is what made the gameplay entertaining, it was what added depth to the gameplay and what showed the difference against someone who has skills compared to those who have not.

I don't care about the single-tier model, I'm fine with that on other games I have no issues with the change in FFXIV.
But they need to keep "depth" of choices.
THM lost all of the healing capabilities, we're stuck with a single job with healing capabilities that is suppoed to heal with a single spell for 30 levels and gets no AoE spell for 48 levels.

I'm saying that from my point of view this is a game-design flaw and a sign that they are underestimating the importance of the game-experience players have to face while levelling, thinking only about people who already have CNJ 50.
I'm not saying they should focus on levelling, that would be preposterous, but the current situation prospected by the 1.20 patch just doesn't seem to be enough.

Also means you then have to overheal with more MP or let the HP bar fall lower instead of shooting a low MP less HP healing spell.

That said, I don't think it's a problem with the way low level content is being handled.
Shopshae, Toto-rak, caravan security, levequests, behests, level 25 ifrit battle, all of those are balanced towards light parties.

With only 4 players, an AoE cure is hardly needed. Sure, it would be handy, but not exacltly unbalanced. Specially since anyone can self heal with cure after killing 3 or 4 rats.

Not to mention Sacred Prism is level 34 (grants AoE to one healing spell) and is not class exclusive.

You are allowed to Aoe heal @ 34 with the Sacred Prism skill.

i dont see the problem here, since the spells get stonger with you it shouldnt be a problem to wait 10 levels longer than before to get your second cure and for the need of aoes early on you have sacred prism, its not like youre supposed to aoe curespam at that level anyway and 30 comes VERY fast.

btw.... level 30 is 20.8% of the levelling curve. You are not stuck there long.

I really dont think you will need AOE cure pre this level.

I can see where the op is coming from. And if conjurer was the only class with access to the cure spell would be inclined to agree.

How ever its not is it? Cure is still eligible for cross classing, Bloodbath and Second Wind are still gained at a very low level and still open for everybody to use. I will hedge a guess that things will work out just fine until the 30's
