A question for DPS mains and what not

Huh, I see. Guess it's just a matter of picking a DPS to try then!

Any opinions on Blm/Mch/Brd?

I'm interested in BLM, but I was looking through that thread with their DPS info and uh

I didn't know BLM had quite so many variables for optimal DPS ,3,;

Then don't go optimal from the get-go, give it a try. If you find yourself liking it, may as well then go optimal.
MCH and BRD are getting some mayor changes in about 3 weeks. BLM also, but doesn't seem like it'll be a total overhaul.

I always do hunts and dailies during the waiting times when on DPS.
As a tank I get insta invites which is sweet, but for raids it is upward of 30 minutes.

I support this, just try them and see which one you prefer.
You might also want to take a look at the new skill video and see if Something appeal you more.
Bard doesn't seem to change too much, new mechanic with songs having ressource but we've no clue what these actually do.
Mach have a new heat gaug that you have to, according to what we understand, keep around 50%. (basically, do not overheat your weapon nor use it when it's cold)
BLM mostly received QoL change, FireIV will cost less mana due to a new mechanic, Enochian won't be as painful to keep up. Mostly the same thing but easier to handle.

Depends. In my FC we have a ridiculous amount of tanks (over half if them main it), so often we're hurting for DPS/healers lol. A lot of them have started leveling an Alt DPS job. XD But yeah, duty finder kinda sucks. It can be anywhere from a 10 minute wait, to 45 minutes lol. As one of our tanks put it (after leveling his DPS alt for a week or two): "Dude, you guys get a shite deal. Wait 20 minutes for a dungeon, then get in and end up tanking half the damn thing yourself anyway."

We are judged less harshly in normal everyday-content (not saying it's right, but it's a fact). You'll get the odd person that puts their foot down and kicks a crap dps, but most just ignore it so long as their not doing something that will wipe the group. In end game raids/primals, it's very different lol. There's so much reliance on DPS checks and pushing past phases, you will be kicked, or severely ridiculed if you can't meet them. Also most likely to have spiteful healer let you die if you make a mistake. X3

With Stormblood I'll probably end up switching to heals for my FC. Lots of them switching to RDM and SAM, which is great because too-many-tanks, but not great because still-missing-heals lmao.

It seems like RDM will have a heal and res skills of their own :v

If you really don't wanna deal with queues because DPS and your aim is solely lvling them, you may as well go for PotD.

Well, for now it's just for leveling to try them and what not, but...

I don't know if it's time to rack healing/tanking/support stuff for a bit since that has been most of my MMO career since I knew it was a thing. I'm just prone to massively overthinking things, hence this thread in the first place :p

Either way, can't hurt to try anything, really!

it may happen every now and then if you are performing very poorly but most people are content with mediocre performances. if it is happening frequently you may want to read up on how to play your class or just simply make better decisions during the fight.

a lot of dps do things while waiting. For example, I sometimes exercise, read, or even write. There are also lots of things to do in game as well, but I personally get annoyed like when i'm in the middle of a quest and the que in notice pops up.
