It's not needed. I fight just fine without it. I'm not against others using it if they need it.

I went on a pre-made Dun run on Sunday. The whole 24 man raid was on Discord. It was the smoothest, fastest, best Dun run I've ever been in.
Voice comm raids will always be superior to keyboard only.
I wouldn't even consider an Ex or Savage without voice for coordination.
I think either is good but you should really put in your ads for groups if you REQUIRE voice chat or not because some people may have issues that require that they not use discord or teamspeak.
Like I have all sound turned off on my game. I'm playing on a PC that's run through a T.V. versus a normal monitor and headphones won't work with that setup. I need to keep my room as quiet as possible right now because one of my parrots has been having seizures and birds will become very nervous and jumpy when they don't feel well. Taking all of that into account I'd look for groups that don't want voice chat. But I was in one recently that did want it, but didn't put that into their adverts, and just kept nagging and nagging me about it until I started choking over every little thing and they kicked me.
tl;dr if you're advertising a group please tell people if you're going to require it or not
I mean idk why you're on Discords that have all that shit going on at once but I generally keep to smaller chats. In dungeons it's just me and a friend talking shit to one another, and in raids it's just me and seven friends talking shit/talking mechanics when we're learning.
I have old-school habits. There was no voice chat in EQ so I got good at giving brief, informative descriptions quickly. I play on PC and prefer to run without voice chat. Headphones give me a headache after a while so I use them mostly just for cutscenes or things like needing to hear the splash on Levi EX.
I've had good and bad experiences with both voice comm and no voice comm, when we're talking weekly 2 chest/farm I believe it's more down to people's awareness than communication.
However when it comes to learning/clearing parties I think voice comm is great to learn about the fights
I think we all should consider that people have different preferences.
I personally don't chat much over voice chat, but am much chattier via the in game chat system.
I also have mild asthma, that comes & goes(In my case it makes it difficult breathe & very difficult to speak when I have bouts of it), (It can also be annoying when people think I'm being rude at times by not being talkative, when I am simply having a bout of asthma)
I find voice chat to be more convenient for dungeons or group content....but I can't type to save my life when engaged in combat with a monster.
Some people(For various reasons) may not have access to voice chat & I totally respect that.
Different strokes for different folks ;)
