Dev Request - Dislike button for Forum posts.

For the listed above reasons I don't think it will be an useful addition to the community - it'll just make it a less peaceful (than it already is) place to exist, besides I think its better people have to respond to things they dislike because others (and devs) could see their reasons.. if those reasons are any good / bad or even if perhaps they can use those reasons in conjunction with other ideas to make their own version of a solution better (in their mind).

Dislike is more just for people to feel good that they're dog piling someone / the person they think is dumb is dumb to other people too (while not always mob mentality, and not suggesting that's why you want it, it is still a great place for the mob mentality to exist, and people part of the hive, imo, are usually less logical and reasonable ones to listen to - even if technically the hive is correct).

Could always add a way to respond without bumping the thread though lol, if you didn't want to help keep it alive but still provide feedback on the perspective (disagreement):P.

Don't flatter yourself, I did have reason beyond I didn't like your suggestion and even tried to offer some helpful advice.

On topic, I see the point of having the so called 'hive mind' downvoting things out of spite. Perhaps if it were implemented correctly it could be useful? I envisioned dislikes being the exact same as likes, nothing can happen based on them besides showing how many people like or dislike a post. And yes, the multiple pages of debate are fun so perhaps if it reduces the page count that could be a bad thing ;P

You did not, all you did was attack and insult me because you did not like what I said on an issue that needs addressing, unlike your idea that is not needed and proven not to work.

As long as the two are separate, it seems like it could be useful. Better that they show that the post is controversial when likes and dislikes each show a hundred thumbs, than the post seemingly having never been voted on (due to their balance of 0).

But there are many other things I'd rather see first, like better reply nesting, private messages, etc.

Basically it doesn't provide feedback except in the form of mob mentality silencing unpopular opinions. Has very little to do with the quality of a post and more to do with the hivemind not liking either the ideas or even just the poster. Not a useful system.

This person gets it, but want to slightly elaborate more:

Disliking doesn't require the need to refute or debate a given topic as to why an individual(s) think something is bad or faulty. While liking means you adhere to a certain suggestion, you can hope that someone worded their idea so it doesn't need much elaborating. The forums would become less forum and more poll.

Actually there has never been a dislike button, not even in the Beta forums for 2.0

Nah. How it usually works is this:

Person A posts opinion.

Person B posts contrary opinion and tells A how dumb it is.

Whichever one gets more likes, you can use that to gauge similar feelings. Adding a dislike button would just result in a Blizzard effect and make these forums that much worse.

I don't want a dislike button. If a topic has gotten enough views or posts then the amount of likes alone is telling enough as to whether or not the idea is popular. A dislike button only gives people more reason to be obnoxious to people they dislike/disagree with and I'd rather not give those personalities any more fodder.

Yes I would like to dislike the OP's post.

I doubt the devs have anything to do with the forums, pretty sure that taken care of by a different team.
