The entire Idea behind monk makes no sense

Many of you are picking apart my opinion on how I feel a monks lore might work, but I definitely did not intend for that to be my main point, I dont know the story on a deep level, It was just to lead into my final point, which is just how awkward monk feels in pvp when Im forced to punch other humans in the back of the skull repeatedly.
All of your opinions are appreciated but please do know this: All I wanted to get across was my opinion on how monk pvp could be improved, I just ended up bulking it out a bit more because of my, I guess you could call it "law student" tendencies XD

Guys, please bring the "healers doing damage" conversation to a different thread. not that your opinions or concerns are less important then mine, but I made this thread about monk pvp, not healers doing damage. thanks guys :)

If that was the case, then you should have just said so straight out. You don't even make mention of PvE vs PvP until your second post. In this case, "Bulking it out a bit" only dilutes and weakens the point you wanted to make.

Unfortunately, it speaks to your concept of certain job roles making sense, or not making sense. Healers doing damage happens to fit in the "does not make sense" category. From a lore perspective it shouldn't make sense at all. But from a practical sense, being able to solo, etc., it makes sense for the game it is in. Just as it makes sense for a dps job (MNK) to do more damage to an enemy from the flank or rear of an opponent.

That is simply the way the game is designed. Maybe they will change it with 4.0, but who knows? There are a lot of things in the game that don't make sense.

For instance, why is Bard not an actual bard? Why does it use a bow, and then whip out a harp for two seconds for a song? Wouldn't the harp be the main focus for that job?

My concerns about monk PvP have almost nothing to do with rather healers should do damage or not. Im not trying to take weight away from your concerns, but please bring them to a thread that is at least about healers, or even PvE, considering my concerns have nothing to do with how PvE or lore. I've edited my first post to take away my opinion on the lore, because it seemed to be taking everyone's attention away from my main point, I apologize for the misunderstanding Thank you for you opinion though :)

Considering that it is highly doubtful they will change MNK for PvP, without changing it for PvE, your concerns are all but forced to address widespread changes to MNK. Therefore, we are back to the argument of whether or not the job makes sense from a lore standpoint. Having played the job, and having done the story line, I am in agreement that nothing has alluded to MNK being an "honorable," let alone "peaceful" profession in FFXIV. IIRC it was actually about seeking power to destroy.

However, that doesn't have to detract from you personally playing MNK honorably. Fight face to face in PvP if you want to.
