Yeah me too. I'll finally be able to get my setting to uber if they do it right and see all that was put into the game graphically. I still LOVE the graphics about this game I imho they are the best! :p

Oh indeed. I just want to turn AO on lol ; ;
Me too. I remember I had it on when game released and my machine went "GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" took like 10 minutes to get control again lol
Yes true you can :P lol And that should have said "do what I did* not did what I did." Grammar Pfffftttt
Monster computer doesn't equal high computer (graphics) knowledge. My brothers have no idea about all those features too, simply cause i'm the one maintaining all the systems. All they know is that their PCs can run games at setting I set up for them without lagging :P
I believe AO isn't hardware optimized under DX9 which is what the current game engine is based on. Will need DX10+ or 11 (don't remember which) for it.Quote:
AO uses a LOT of resources
Some AO similar effects are already on, even if AO is off... oddly enough.
But honestly, just turn AO off, and you will run the game just fine.
It has nothing to do with that most likely. From what I know, there are so many parameters in an AO implementation that can be set to suboptimal values that it's pretty easy to mess things up. Most frequent mistake, according to my prof, is setting the count of samples to look for occlusion to a too high value, which results in huge performance issues. Which reminds me of what FFXIV's AO does :P
