Overmelding for gatherer gear isn't really all that bad. I think I've just got one piece of armor that could take all tier 4 materia. Generally, it only needs one or two and the rest lesser materia. It's a lot nicer than crafting in that.

I personally am using the 180>200 augmented main hands on my DoH's but using crafted HQ 195's for offhands. I see no reason to invest the gil in MH for time being personally because I can do 3* without even melding the MH/OH or even chest pieces. Whether I switch the MH from 200 to crafted 195 will depend on what the next level of recipes requires but for the time being I would rather save my gil and not waste it on materia I might not even need. The only reason I went with 195 for offhand is because takes way too long to save up enough red scrips to buy all the OH tools but the MH tools only require blue scrip so that's fine.

I am doing the same thing with my DoL gears. 200 for MH / 195 OH botany and miner. 200 MH fisher since has no OH.

I went all Augmented left side (other than belt) and HQ i170 for OH (can't afford the IW OH). Found red script rotation super easy once they buffed eventide jade. Could max out red scripts for the week in about an hour. Working on getting right side IW accessories to achieve a natural 650 GP (food free).

Personally im using the red scrips to convert them into blue for the folklore books. Im one short and wont bother farming the blue scrips!
