Ahhh you're right. It's been awhile. I poked at old patch notes and it looks like it initially went in with a low drop rate, which was then raised to 100% in 2.38. Maybe I'm thinking of WoD where it didn't go in till later but it had the 100% drop rate from the start.

While part of me agrees with the OP there are some things I don't agree with.

Example: Using the relics to revitalize old content. I'm OK with that. What I'm not OK with is the sheer volume of the grind. I mean, the grind for the 210 weapon is just asinine. There was no need to punish people who have little to no interest in Alex Savage for the mistake they made on making Gordias Savage too difficult.

The fates? I appreciated the fates. I leveled most of my classes to 60 just off the grind for crystals with dungeons in between. I only got enough for one extra relic, but hey I got all my combat jobs to 60 now. That was worth it for me.

The CT for aethyr oils? That's perfectly fine. One a week for 5 weeks with the ability to buy them for 1800 esoterics if you want it faster- that's fair and totally acceptable.

7 Gears for Midas to get a lore weapon? Sure, a little on the high side, but the fight is fun so I don't mind it so much. And I can get parts for armor for my other jobs which is always a plus.

The issues I've got with the grind at end game is that the token items for armor should be quest items and not regular items that take up our limited inventory. Otherwise it's not very hard to get flooded with bits and bobs that go no where.

I could be wrong but that tomestone was locked in hunts untill yet another patch came out. I believe only the twines and coats were available for the longest time. And if the drop rate was rare it mustve been 1% cause i never saw it until after hunt train got patched out of hand

One of the things I may not have been clear about in the original post was not that I hold issue with the relic being a means to keep old content alive, but that I would hold issue with being yoked back into it once it's old AFTER being bound to running ad-nauseum it when it was new (whether via time/quantity-based grinds).

the problem is that when this quests were released there were plenty of ppl doing it , after 1-2 weeks is dead again, if u are to late , u are alone in your journey...and its painfull.

what i hate the most is forcing to do 2.0 content , ok isnt forcing but come on...the first step for relic is farm fates boring fates , if u start today u will be alone doing fates...after that dungeons including 2.0 dungeons , try doing the relic on a dps ....1h waiting for every dungeon... after that farm a insane amount of items (80), no1 does alex gordias normal anymore so tribe quests (limited/day) + farming esoterics until the end of times , buy /craft /farm overpriced items on MB "just because" ....and after that keep farming esoterics , do the 3 CT raids to save 1800 eso... ugh...half of the work is doing -50 content for a LVL 60 230 weapon...but nothing wrong with that :rolleyes:

i wonder about the next expansion relic , doing Void ark raids, vanu , Vath, moogle and alexander for the new relic? or neverreap x20 to get a ilvl300 relic?

I agree they only give you one or two reasons to do old content and after you miss the hype you're screwed. They need to give old dungeons more than just one reason to spam them. Add one or two pieces of high level gear, plus random mounts, and minions at a decent drop rate in old content. They could just use the same reskin of the gear and just change the ilvl and stats like Diadiem. It would turn old content into a treasure hunt for rare unique items.

The relic grind is definitely irritating I agree, it should have been 1 normal quality and 10 tokens at most. I'm picking up one or two every week or so from doing daily expert and vanu and vath dailies but I don't see myself completing it by the time the next xpac launches. I'll probably forget about it or sell the HQ items. I have to say I am not exactly fond of them pushing players in to old content, this is one of those situations where I have to say I agree with blizzard's policy of abandoning old content once it's outlived it's usefulness.

To the folks defending I ask this, for the oil quest that requires the CT raids: a lot of us spammed that back when the level cap was 50, I can't speak for everyone of course, but I certainly don't want to go back and run those raids again after doing them several times already. I would have preferred they make us run Void Ark only. Whatever the relic is for the next xpac, I really hope it doesn't involve going back and running HW content again ad nauseum, that will immediately make me not want to do it.
