I was sick of tomes in 2.0 now I loathe them in 3.0

3 times a week Ex roulette = 225 tomes

2x each Midan floor = 80 tomes

1x Void Ark = 20 tomes

3 times a week lvl60+Trial = 75 + (something between 30 - 60)
________________

430-460 tomes. And that's not much to do for a whole week.

If you do Savage, Sephiroth Ex, Bismark Ex, Ravanah Ex, Thordan Ex, PvP, beast tribes (Gnath) or hunts, it's less.

May I ask what content you do enjoy?

It just doesn't feel fun, reward wise. I had more fun levelling up my alts through dungeon drops than through tomes. I was more excited when I got my i159 or whatever piece from Gubal Library than I was buying an i200 with tomes. Even though you've earned it the same way it just doesn't feel the same. You're not thinking about the dungeons you ran to earn that gear, it just feels cheap and bought.

I treat exp roulette as an emergency "break in case lore cap is low and reset is close". It is just so bad to get Antitower 90% of the time, I had enough of that creepdoll freak show.

There's so many ways to steadily get lore tomes without having to feel like you're farming them specifically and when you realize it, you're already on your way to weekly cap.

Here's a few activities that don't rely on roulettes to net you some lore for cap:

1. If you want to gear up multiple jobs and you're not swimming in gil to buy crafted ilvl 220, you'll need to run Alex Midas NM floors for gear parts, considering RNG and such, you're likely to get a minimum of 40 (if very lucky / will never happen), 60-100 (normal RNG) or +100 (troll RNG) tomes.

2. You're still looking to get those lovely and sparkly bird mounts from Primal EX fights, if RNG treated you well enough, you shouldn't have all of them yet. This is another easy lore 'sink' that will help you cap.

3. ilvl 220 weapons. You like playing all those jobs but the timegated lore weapon is a pushover and A8S looks like an near impossible dream right now, Sephirot weapons are still a thing, farming those will net you lore and a chance for a birdie!

4. Weapon glamours. See 2.

One problem is, that you only have two dungeons in expert roulette. Its gets pretty boring after some time. Just put all 60 dungeons together. It shouldnt be a thing to do all the same stuff all over again to reach your cap.

What option do we have to get on tomes?
- Experty Duty Roulette: Do both 2 dungeons again and again
- Feast: Get blamed for everything, especially as healer
- Trial Duty Roulette: Ravana, Bismarck, Chrysalis... wipe-chance: 50%
- Midas and Void Arc: Could take forever

I m not saying that everything is bad. The reward for Trial could be higher and doing only 2 dungeons in Expert Duty is not fun. I m just saying there could be better ways to get on tomes.

Tomes feel like a job instead of a game. I feel like I have to hit a deadline and if I don't hit it, I'll fall behind. It was somewhat okay when the patch first came out. But then weeks go by, then months, and I'm still doing the same two dungeons, only to be replaced by two more dungeons. I don't feel good about myself when i get a new piece of armor. I didn't really do anything. Heres to hoping the new Palace of the Dead content will be new and exciting. Because Tomes have killed the game for me.

Except, that I've done it week after week. I'm bored and sick of it. As soon as I got all 220 and 230 items I stopped doing Midan, because it isn't fun and doing the same choreography repeatedly is a bore. End game has always been boring. When we get the new 24 man raid, it will be running downa hall, no exploration. It will be Void Ark witha new skin. We will get new tomes and two new expert dungeons that are not actually expert, they are easy. It will be the same.

What do i enjoy? Thats honestly a hard one to answer right now because I've been doing the same thing for ages. I enjoy epic open worl content like Odin, Coerulgina, and Behemoth. Still waiting to be on when Ultima pops. I enjoy the 24 man rais. I enjoyed Diadem when it first came out. It was more fun than any expert dungeons or trials released. I enjoy hunts when I find one or hear about one, although I feel they could be stronger to fight. In other games I played in the past when i first started playing them I was so happy when I got a rare item that I could sell for a profit. Right now many things can not be put up on the market boards. I like discovery and a challenge. I do not count Savage as a challenge, it is difficult and complicated for the sake of being difficult and complicated. I don't like dancing, and thats all what mechanics are, a dance. Its really hard to describe what I like due to what the game feels like at the moment...I REALLY like looking at my character, he looks so bad ass.

When people say that I cringe. Telling someone to stop playing a game is literally how they die. Yet everyone says it. They know the game gets boring at an exceedingly fast rate because its always been the same content with a different look.

It's these same people probably that make threads few months down the line and say things like "LOL Bro? Why's the game dead? Does this game feel dead to anyone else? What happened?"

Uhhhh you encourage people to stop playing if they didn't like the current state of the game, probably that.

Man, I can't deny, I hate the weekly grind too.

-> Do daily beastmen.
-> Do an expert some days, trial every day.
-> Do Alexander Midas for token drops for alt jobs gearing.

That's literally all you do day-in, day-out. It gets to the point where you look forward to raid only, and then only have fun while you're in a raid. Right now, our team's still working on A6S. We've almost got the win down (And almost had it a few times the last week, just some fine-tuning on Vortexer on our end.) But...

Even that grows boring as it becomes a grind after a while. :/

I really am hopeful for these new solo-challenge dungeons we can do. I hope we can take our birds into them, 'cause then I can rock my R20 bird into it and have some fun.

Needs to be more then tomes and tokens. And less gated content. Thanks. It was old in 2.0 and it still is now. Keep it up and I'll just stick to mining. Since gathering classes are ironically fun all the time to play as.
