FF XIV update for the new model PS4?

This has been said by multiple sources but until Sony themselves confirm it is in fact real we are all getting ahead of ourselves, no? I honestly do not even know it would be in their best interest to release another PS4 alongside the current one. Just my opinion of course

Also what retailer wants to take up twice the space on their shelves cause there is two versions of the same game.

You clearly dont understand how this is going to work. Its basically just like pc games. Game developers dont have to make hundreds of different versions of their games for every hardware setup on pc. Theres one game that works on any capable pc. Once this PS4.5 or neo or whatever it ends up being called is released every PS4 game released has to support both the old PS4 and the new more advanced version. It will be the exact same game. It will just have settings that allow it to perform better. Older games will just need a patch to allow them to use the better hardware to get better framerates and higher resolutions.

The rules of this updated PS4 already leaked. New games must run on both the PS4 and PS4.5. PS4.5 must be exactly the same content wise. There cant be any PS4.5 only games or features. All its really for is to help games run better at higher resolutions.

Well what ever they doing I won't be be replacing my current one anytime soon, but I'm sure there a certain company out that that will give people dirt for their current system so they can upgrade the the more powerful one for a "discount" price.

Expansions aren't considered new game, cause all new games are required to have trophies and no additional/new trophies came with Heavenward.

Since you can't play an FFXIV expansion without the base game, it seems more likely that it would be treated as DLC.

Sony Hasn't stated anything about the PS4.5K right now it's still just a rumour. So this thread needs to be deleted.

It won't happen. The PC version is still designed for the lowest common denominator by using low resolution textures & not making use of modern hardware anti-aliasing methods. They're on the record stating this is because they don't want to give any one person a vastly better experience due to them owning expensive hardware.

Until the support for PS3 is dropped altogether there won't be any major updating of the game engine or graphical subsystems. Hopefully that will happen in 4.0 but there's an extremely vocal PS3 userbase who may well ensure that PS3 support will remain & the rest of us will continue to be stuck with a pre-Millenial game.

The current PS4 is already equal with most PCs for the purpose of playing XIV, so I don't see any meaningful changes for atleast 3 years. We'll have to wait and see.

For some reason, I feel like most of them don't even have/use a PS3.

Buuut... it's not actually a rumor, hundreds of devs are prepping their games for it right now with the new content guidelines from Sony... we know the precise specifications... there are detailed reports all over the internet...
1.3x faster CPU clock speed, a double beefed up GPU and more memory bandwidth.
The only thing that hasn't happened yet is Sony getting onto an E3 stage, saying this is what the box looks like, this is what it costs and this is the release date. But it's real for sure, there are legit sources everywhere. Calling it fake now would be like calling ice-cream fake, even though we can see it all around us.
Think of the old/new PS4 consoles like the difference between a Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS, the higher-spec model which plays the same games.
