Samurai & Red Mage cross skills

I want red mage to be a DPS. A melee healer in this game would be sketchy, so very sketchy. And like it was said before, no sense making it a tank cause the magical melee tank is fulfilled with dark knight. If/when red mage becomes a thing, it'll be really interesting to see what it does.

Therefore it'll probably take from BLM and either lancer or pugilist. Rogue has no cross class value outside of Goad. and they would never take that away from them.

If Samurai were to be a tank, they should have the following cross class abilities:

WAR - Bloodbath has always been a thing
MNK - Internal Release (depending on if they want SAM to be a job similar to WAR)
PLD - Awareness is key!
(or DRK) - Only because I can see them getting the dark dance cross class ability.

Also, I have no doubt in my mind that RDM will become a support DPS job.

RDM, i belive would have the following cross classes as I belive you would need these leveled to :

WHM or ACN (depending on what the devs want the RDM to become a DoT type job or a burst type job)
BLM - Blizzard II ??
BRD - for Raging Strikes

If Samurai is a Tank, they will have Gladiator (Provoke, Convalescence, Awareness, Savage Blade, Flash) and Marauder (Foresight, Skull Sunder, Bloodbath, Fracture, Mercy Stroke), just like the Dark Knight. Otherwise, if Samurai is a DPS, they will cross with Lancer (Invigorate, Blood for Blood, Keen Flurry and Feint) and Pugilist (Featherfoot, Second Wind, Internal Release, Haymaker, Mantra). THis is basin on how works on other classes.

The Red Mage sound like a support caster/melee balanced DPS, with some heal skills. In case it is DPS, cross class with Thaumaturge (Surecast, Swiftcast, Blizzard II) and COnjurer (Cure, Raise, Protect, Stoneskin, Aero, Cleric stance? (this is usless if he is a DPS, unless you use opposite, to heal isntead of attack)), Also, if it is a melle using Rapiers, then can get the Lancer or Pugilist cross class. Red mage is complicated, beacuse is mage and melee at the same time, but also, is considered as balance between White Mage and Black Mage.

Red mage is a complicated job. They can weild both, white and black magic up to limited number and they can't use flare or holy, which are unique spells. But there are also many other spells that we haven't seen in FFXIV that red mages could use. My guess is, red mage will get their own specific spells and they can cross class any conjurer or thaumaturge magic up to lvl (?).

Red mage is mostly a support job.. but as we all know. You can't be good DPS or healer if your spells are limited. So it's interesting..

I might be crazy here, but I would love to see a caster tanker too :p

Red mage should be a tank. That is literally all I care about.

I would trade my axe, sword, and greatsword in a heart beat for red mage tank.

Won't at least they put Mutilation as cross class skill? Since Archer's Venomous Bite or Marauder's Fracture can cross class.

I hope they have a base class, or at least scrap all base classes that are on the game now, because letting an old system coexist with a new one (job only after 3.0) is just lazy.

RDM (CNJ/THM)
SAM (LNC/ARC)
BLU (CNJ/ACN)

If they make Red Mage, a light-armor/robe wearing, spell-based class into a Tank, without damaging the class identity (or making it a Fencer) I'll take my hat off for the devs.
Probably, Red Mage will be either a Healer (with Black Magic for attacking and White Magic for healing, using melee skills for MP management) or a support DPS (like they have always been for the past 13 titles).
