What would you expect then? just hand this one item to an npc and BAM, relic! these are relics after all, they WILL come with annoying grinds, it's just how this works..

6 actually and going by precedent this means that either the Oaknots will be needed for the relic as well or the new currencies will be for crafting mats

or both if these new recipies are related to the relic (unlikely considering that CUL got one and GSM doesn't seem to be a weapon)

What? Why is the Relic Upgrade still a secret? Atleast tell us the iLevel of it. I will be really disappointed if it is unfinish, and we can only get to i200 and the next one will come shortly after.

They don't HAVE to come with annoying grinds. A Relic Reborn was an honest-to-goodness actual quest.

Yes they do need to come with annoying grinds. Welcome to MMO's with rewards to match your effort. Not everything can be ezpz 123.

Honestly, if anyone thought the new relics were going to be a quick 5 minute fetch quest, you set yourself up for a massive disappointment.
