Let's be honest about the future of FFXIV

That's a really long post...

I mean seriously, its just a game...why can't you just find ways to enjoy it instead of finding ways to say it sucks? Maybe you'll have more productive days playing it than you are posting ridiculously long posts on a forum.

First, thank you for using paragraphs.

Second, the game has gone through a dev shift and redesign over the past 8-9 months with a month removed due to issues with the quake. The grand majority of that time was spent planning and designing so we shouldn't have a repeat of last years 8 months of minimal content additions.

And lastly, don't worry about SE's financial issues, they already have people for that, just concern yourself with what you want to see in the game.

I do not see the game going anywhere soon.

There is more then enough people interested in the game still to call it a failure. Game just had 2 massive patchs which more or less rewrote the game, we know we have at least 2 more massive ones coming 1.20 and 1.21.

We have another release which made up over 50% of the other player base in squares other mmo.

This is the only non-wowish mmo out there atm, although shifting to the casual friendly side.

I'm sure that developing FFXIV for another year will greatly hurt SE. I mean, it's not like they are used to long development cycles... are they?

Just look at Final Fantasy XIII, it only took them 4 years after the anouncement to finish it. Final Fantasy Agito XIII, 6 years since the anouncement and comes out in a few months. Final Fantasy Versus XIII... who knows when we will see that in a store.

Dont worry so much about SE finaces. I'm sure that someone there will know the basics of economics.

Can't you guys just read and respond intelligibly or not-read and move on? No one cares about you and your snarky crap. People can use the forums to express ideas and opinions without being shit on every 9 out of 10 posts who respond to them. Good lord it's disgusting and disturbing.

Anyway, I thought OP had a well thought out message, though I too am having a good deal of fun with XIV and I have since the start, so when it ceases to be fun, or cost more than it is fun, I'll just move on. It doesn't have to be a lifelong commitment just because you like Final Fantasy 1 so much (or whichever FF it is that gets you going). So relax and enjoy and of course trying to steer the game in a preferable direction is good - but don't worry so much.
