FATEs and leves aren't that bad actually. They get the same type of boost that you do in dungeons. When I was leveling, almost everything that gave me exp (except any hunting logs), would give me a minimum of 170% bonus exp (with rested) until I hit 50, which then dropped to a little over 100% (with rested).

Folks should take advantage of those gather leves too, like in Costa and Coerthas. 10-14k exp for 20sec or so of running around is a winner.

Doing all the side quests in HW will get your 2nd class to 60 pretty quickly. I did that for my AST after I got WHM to 60. Since you (should) already have flying in those zones, it makes them much, much quicker to do. (Though do Google the Moogle finding quests because you'll be there forever.)

I also did all the side quests in ARR, but I did those when all of my classes were at 50 before Heavensward. Some of those are pretty interesting if you want to do those, and every once in a while you'll find one with a cool reward like a minion. :D

I'm sorry to say, You equip the Main weapon with the class/job you want to play.... Then process to do content, for the level you currently are.

It's that easy.
