Started as LNC when I started playing a few months ago. Got to lv37 as DRG, then felt it didn't fit me anymore. I then started leveling ARC to get caught up and unlocked SCH. And I now love to heal and main SCH (I'm now lv56 and DRG is still at 37. xD), but if I don't feel like healing for one dungeon, I'll use SMN. Best of both worlds for me, get to play as healer or DPS. :) And leveling the magic classes along with it and with BRD as well.

I ride for MRD; I die for MRD! 2.0-_._

Started as a DRG, still a DRG, though now I've added BRD in as a secondary. I don't foresee myself changing at any point because I enjoy DRG too much.

FFXI -> DRG -> RDM -> FFXIV -> 1.0 LNC -> GLD -> 2.0 PLD -> 3.0 WAR (because...)

The short version? I started as an Arcanist, but fell in love with MCH as soon as HW came out.......
The long version?
I started as an ACN with plans to use it fully through end game without using a Job, something I had been planning to do since about a month before I started the game, simply because friends I had told me that it couldn't be done. I was fully able to accomplish this even in level 50 content, and while it had it's downsides, I made the benefits I had with it work so that I was completely viable in all the runs I did. However, things such as people constantly wanting to blame me because I was an easy target if something went wrong, (half the alliance wipes from doom in WoD, and I get kicked for it, tank dies immediately from overpulling and not using cooldowns in runs, but blamed me for it, ect...), as well as SE completely dropping support for "classes" with HW such as making it so only jobs can use the level 3 LB, (seriously, why?), all eventually began to grind my nerves down. I was still determined to do it though, because I enjoyed the amazement some people had that I was actually making it viable in endgame runs, and I enjoyed discussing the pros and cons of it with those players who were actually interested and not just saying "it can't work" and flaming about it even when I was outpreforming a few of them. Over all though, all the venom some people have for anything they see as "underpreforming", (regardless of whether other players are having fun or not, as well as regardless of whether or not they were still getting the content done with little issues), was beginning to get on my nerves.......
However, when HW came out, I instantly fell in love with MCH from the moment I first played the class. There's something about the speed and dexterity needed to successfully pull off good DPS with it that I just really enjoy, as well as the fact that it's not as simple as "use button combo 1,2,3 at all times", as knowing when to use which skill in your repertoire at which moment tends to have a bigger impact than simply going with your basic rotation. As such, MCH quickly became my full time main, as I just feel I'm doing so much more than with any other class/job I've played, (yes, even having played SMN and SCH in higher level content, or other classes at varying levels of content). To this day, I'll still do runs from time to time with friends with me playing ACN, and while I'll fully acknowledge that the DPS is slower when I do so, we also still get through runs such as Sohm Al and The Aery in faster times than most DF groups I get with people playing as full jobs. My past as a full time ACN will always be a part of me, as I was, (as far as I know), the only one to successfully do such in level 50 content. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but going back to it from time to time, simply attacking in general feels so much more boring to me than anytime I'm playing MCH, not even counting my trading of DPS for survivability.....
Also, since I know there's bound to be a ton of "you can't possibly play as a class instead of a job" in response to my post here, I'm simply going to ignore it. There's nothing anyone can say that I haven't heard a million times before. I knew bringing it up will cause a ton of hate to me, but the OP asked a question, and I chose to give an honest answer......

Started as a SMN (but leveled everything except tanks anyway, because I like getting everything to max just to have it and see the stories) and switched to BLM and stayed that through out 2.x and had a total blast with it.
Post HW I absolutely hated what they did to BLM and was left re-trying every job to find one I could tolerate. Finally settled on BRD, even though I wasn't thrilled with its 3.0 changes either. It's ok, but I don't love playing it like I did BLM, which has definitely affected how much I play the game.

Started out as PLD and still a PLD as my main. But if I want to DPS I go to DRG or NIN. Also been working on DRK. They are the main classes I use. Though this is the first MMO I actually tanked. :)

I started as Gladiator in Beta and EA then switched to Dragoon... sometime around 2.0 Maybe 2.1?
I got tired of the tense feeling in dungeons, plus the attitudes that were around didn't exactly help. So I took a break and picked out the class that stood out to me when I came back.
I still use paladin sometimes. But if I tank I just use War or Drk.
Love Dragoon though. Happy to be one. XD

MRD -> DRG [2.x] -> MNK [3.x]

I started as GLD, I still main PLD, but I always had the intention to cap out everything... which I did, and am in the process of doing again.
