Why do you keep playing FFXIV ?

I don't raid nor PvP.

At the moment, I log in to lvl alt jobs, I have fun doing quests in this game, I like their stories.
When I starting to bored playing same content, I switch to other jobs.

I do crafting but I don't care about making gil much, I just care about my own progress (gearing up, lvling desyn), we have house and have enough gil to spend on something, that is enough.

And yes, I login just to talk with friends sometimes.

But it can't be help, it's almost three month already after launch (or more than that, I'm not sure). I start getting bored so I play other game or do hobbies more these days.
I need 3.1 so badly now, at least I hope new relic questline will make me busy again.

The social aspect, hanging out with great friends, is always something that'll keep me logging in.
Game-wise I'm nowhere close to being "done". When I grind out everything to 60, every pvp rank, every achievement, then maybe. But being an MMO, these things get added faster than they allow players to be able to complete them, so alas, I'm forever entertained.

Hm I was actually asking myself that question 2 months ago: right now the answer would be "waiting 3.1 and see", because I don't do really much myself: I do the daily roulettes for my 60, do the others for levelling alt jobs and then I actually log off and play something else.

I used to raid FCOB for about 5 months but it wasn't worth the pain so I'm not going to repeat the same mistake twice.

I would pvp but the queues are disastrously long, so that's definitely a no no.

I got a house so I'm also done with that part of the game too...hmm I would say friends too but it's not all the time and even then I prefer to do stuff on my own.

This is exactly what it is :/ Log on, do expert, get alex loot, done for the day in an hour and a half. Next day, log on, expert, repeat until capped by Saturday. Or you can cap eso on Tuesday and have nothing to do until next Tuesday.
About 50% of the game is obsolete (any of the 50 dungeons, coil, CT etc) because they trash it quicker than they make it. I'll give you a run down of what updates are like.

2 dungeons for tomes and 1 raid (4 bosses and some trash with weekly lockouts on both of these), some MSQ that you can finish in an hour
Next update.
Those dungeons, gear and that 1 raid are now trash, here's 2 dungeons and 1 raid (4 bosses) to replace those.

You get the point. That's been every update for the last 2 years. The community here seems to care more about minions, glamour, plushies and paying for things on the mogstation that should/used to be in game. So don't get your hopes up for some actual content :/ Not to mention if you try to point out any flaw with the game and give proof of countless mmos that have failed because of lack of content / same formula, they bring out the torches and pitchforks and call you a "doomsayer whiner" lol Also, the only comebacks they can think of for how much "content" there is, is "Achievements" "Capped MGP" and crafting, which is almost useless.

There's a reason why these are popping up more and more since HW and it's not "a variety of content" lol

I don't. I'm only logging on to keep my FCs airships running long enough untill my second can take over and obtain scrips each week so I can gift someone with a full set before my sub runs out.

I can only play on weekends, I have work on weekdays, that's why I'm not bored of it yet. Still so many things to do.
Oh by the way, why don't we ask the mods to merge all those "FF XIV is boring" threads into one.

The nostalgia. Though, I usually only play for 1-2 months and take a huge break again to then return again. There really isn't a lot to do in the game except collect equipment or level a new character. Crafting is completely useless considering everything is so expensive, and it won't ever be useful in the end game. The only use is glamour, but spending 900k+ on mats to craft stuff is a bit, meeeh.

Oh, I'm also cleaning up every single sidequest in the Heavensward areas. For potential lore tidbits and whatnot, and again just enjoying everyday Eorzean life.

I tend to do daily expert (just started those last week)...send out retainers, FC airship and do daily hunts with a good friend.

I have 0 interest in the 8 man raids or pvp so they dont count for me.
That about sums it up.

Housing (creation) is completely mindless, it doesn't offer anything to do on an ongoing basis. :(

I have all crafts/dol stuff leveled ..master books , red scrip nightmare is not my idea of fun so I am not concerned with gathering those..at times mine or gather some mats to sell but for the most part im not in game very much anymore.

Have all the glamour gear that I like already.
Hoping 24 man raid will be somewhat enjoyable, we shall see :)

Its a good game, for a low cost.
I play a variety of games anyway to fulfill my current mood lol

I really do think this is the best way to go about it. You won't be terribly behind if you come back for a month or two after each update. That also keeps it somewhat fresh and stops you from getting too burnt out.
