Is it really so far of a stretch to have some underwater facility created by the Garlean Empire for Aikon research?
Hey, maybe Aikons come from the moon and they have a community there...
Or maybe they came from underground, or perhaps that is where they hide now.
Easy to fit all this into the lore of the world and make it interesting. I say go for it. But I also think they need to fix the current game first before we start thinking about all these extra goodies. -

On a more serious note- the game just needs variety. I think that sums up the entire "We need X-area"
In a lot of MMOs, there is a sense of progression... one area looks different than another.... there are different climates, themes etc.... (much like the real world) Currently we appear to have a sand, plains and trees.... It truely is bland.... the sand isn't even really a desert.. the trees aren't really a jungle.. and the plains arent all that rolling....
I think extreme type areas help make it feel like a big world... and yes I think these areas will be unlocked at some point... (probably not the moon thought... ) -

Yes the technology is available but um where is the Empire? Is there an Emperor and his Apprentice? Are they building a Death City laser? Oh sorry wrong game... They did promise that the empire was going to be technologically advanced but they show very little and none outside the cut scenes which is crap I want to fight a mechanodroid ogre or something.
