How about options what your charatcer says? In the opening cutscene made me think the game would have a lot of that but it seems like SE keeps forgetting they even had that in the game. It offers options so inconsistently and rarely it makes me wonder what the point even was.
The problem with that is that you can only offer so many options. You're still going to get a lot of players who don't feel like any of the available options really fit their characters, and they're going to be unhappy at being forced to pick a response they don't like. The more times you force them to choose from a set list of lines they don't like, the unhappier they're going to be.
When the character says nothing, you can use your imagination to fill in whatever you want and everyone is happy.
While I wouldn't mind having voice acting, they'd have to do it Mass Effect style where players can choose what their character says at ever point, because otherwise it would take out the "this is your character" aspect of it by creating a defined personality for your character. And doing it that way would cost A LOT of money, and would ultimately result in making your choices meaningless since they can't exactly do branching storylines to go with the different choices. All in all, I'm fine with using our imagination to fill in the gaps. Most of the time when the player character "talks" it's just to fill in NPCs on stuff we already saw, so it'd be a bit redundant to hear it again at every turn anyhow.....
I don't mind it. Games like Skyforge had...spotty voice acting while I was playing GW2 and I was like "hey! I know that voice!". You'll probably do this with the other characters in this game but I don't mind the quiet
i wish that they gave up dialogue options like in Swtor
the fact that they aren't voiced is something i prefer actually. i feel closer to my character because of it.
