What a nice site.
Honestly I have enough informations to be interested in the expansion and I would love some surprise.
They already noted that another Live Letter that will talk about the battle system etc will come in May so... Please look forward to it :D
I don't seem to recall any MMO expansion where they detailed skills. That has always been found out when the expansion released (or at least if they have a closed beta like WoW does.) Don't expect to see much more than what they are showing. Also it was mentioned that during the story quest we will convert our companion Chocobo to a flying Chocobo, so I would say somewhere before or at 60 is when we can start flying. As for the dragon mount, didn't they say it will be similar to the Magitek ... as in we'll get it during the final MSQ of the initial release?
Im not too sure about you but after reading the whole site, I'm way more hyped about the expansion.
Why would I want to know about everything before it comes out? I already know I want the expansion. I wanna learn about all those job skills, quests, items, whatever, by actually....I don't know...playing the game? Crazy I know.
Well, they could do what Blizzard did, and tell you absolutely everything they plan to do. Then, when they don't do about 90% of the things they said they'd do, everyone can have that special feeling of disappointment.
Sometimes it's better to not know.
We're not beggars, we're paying customers. In the age where corporations expect us to follow the PREORDER NOW instruction from just the title of a videogame, it's simply a reasonable /doubt.
Of course nobody wants details of quests or the storyline or fights or things like that, but there's certain concerns when a big announcement can be boiled down to "In expansion, there's gonna be content."
Especially since in addition to new stuff there's always pressing concerns such as housing, or uselessness of SS and elemental materia, and others that go unaddressed for months, the expansion is basically supposed to define how (and if) we're gonna play this game for another 15+ months. It's only natural that people knowledgeable about the game want to know at least some finer details to look ahead for.
Personally, from the last LL 3.0 just feels like a really large content patch. There's no big qualitative jump that makes me really hype because it's gonna change (improve?) how we play FFXIV. It's just more content and that's it.
No, flying isn't that jump. It's just a marketing gimmick.
The only thing that kinda annoys me is the "Dark Knight Hype".
Its literally showcased 1000x more than the Astro and the Machinist despite seeing the DK in action back in March or even earlier :/
While I can't answer all of your questions, I will answer these ones:
"Are we getting a dungeon akin to Crystal Tower again?"
Yes. The new 24 man raid will be coming in patch 3.1
"What are the new LB3s for each of the jobs?"
Unknown at this point. But the new Dragoon LB3 will be shown in the Heavensward benchmark which will release later this month.
"What are their current plans for housing as far plots and wards go? Do they plan to add more to meet the high demand?"
Housing will be added to Ishgard eventually. It won't be at launch however.
"What other primals, if any, are to be introduced with the expansion?"
They have already shown off Bismark and Ravana, who will both be getting a Normal and Hard Mode encounter. It is unknown if there will be more in the game that haven't been revealed yet.
