Yeah, "Toon" irks me as well. I may be looking too far into it, but it always seems like there's a disconnect between player and avatar when they use "toon" compared to player and avatar when they use character". A toon just feels so unrelatable, as you're just watching some cartoon character play out things. While a character actually has defining traits and, well, characteristics.

Also, I may be in the minority on this one, but asking for a "rez" is a little irritating. I know we actually do have "Resurrection" now, but for the longest time it's been Raise and only Raise. It's just what I've been brought up with in XIV.

I agree. In MMO's I always see my character as an extension of myself, so Toon is just such an unrelatable word like you say.

Also use "Raise". I actually remember the first time someone said Rez when I was playing FFXI. It didn't make sense to me; I remember trying to figure out how it could be a slang or abbreviation for Raise until I later found out it was for Resurrection/Resurrect. I was young. :/

Raise is 5 letters tho, in comparison to Res, which might not be a very valid thing to say, but Raise cant be exactly reduced to Rai and be understood either :/
Also much more friendly typing wise, since in a qwerty keyboard, the 3 lettes for res are on one hand.
Well... when dead its not like typing 2 more letters to ask for a retry in combat will make much of a difference time wise (and typo).

Also gotta agree on the "toon" thing, its sort of weird to hear someone call their character "toon"... its like... wrong...

I checked both "aggro" and "hate", as I use them for different instances.

"Aggro" is enmity you did not intend/were supposed to build. ("Damn Sapsa Spawning Grounds, I always get aggro from every single monster I pass by.")
"Hate" is enmity you or someone else did intend/are supposed to build ("Tank, are you AFK? I got hate and you're just standing there.")

I wrote the same thing^^, when i first read dps on this Forum i really didn't know how damage per second was Fitting the sentence.

I use "Aggro" to denote the initial detection by the mob to the player/party.
I use "hate" to denote the priority value a mob has from player actions, when a person "has hate", at the very least, the mob is targeting that person with auto attacks, usually they are the target of far more, but hate 's value can also extend to other party members, who can be the target of secondary attacks based on how much hate they have.

I'm done, the main one I mentioned was yalm.
