i don't have Nvidia cards anymore for this reason. When a Driver failed on any Nvidia card i had the entire PC would reboot and made it hard to find out why it was doing this. i use AMD now and when drivers fail screen blacks and flicks back on in a lower resolution and then reboots the drivers and flicks back to normal(Very Rare).
That said i would try reverting your drivers back to an Older version. sometimes the latest drivers have Compatibility issues with Different games.
Currently i have a post about FFXIV crashing on my system anyways. i think there is a memory leak in the game at the moment. if you get it the game just stops for me. i use 3 monitors so when it stops i know its not my PC but if it was full screen it would look like black screen.

I had this problem for a long time as well. For me, after combing though HOURS of error logs, I found there was a conflict with McAfee Installer, even though I had uninstalled McAfee >.> anyway, upon completely removing all McAfee files and applications manually (after using McAfee's uninstaller) I no longer have this issue. I don't know if it applies to your issue but this fixed it for me.
