WHMs spamming Holy at MBs / Cities / crafters

Pretty sure a report for something like that would be frivolous, unless there was some abusive chat log to go along with it. Circumstances vary, but it could always be a guy jerking around with his friend or something. I know it can be annoying, and I personally hate the magitek emote explosion spam when I'm shopping in mor dhona, but I find it hard to imagine SE taking any action without proof that a person is intending to harass you personally. They don't even deal immediately with friend invite spam from RMT. You might as well report people for spamming the jump button, because it bothers you and ruins your immersion.

I look at it as ego-stroking players trying to draw attention to themselves. It's a cry for help, really. These poor individuals are so starved for attention that they need to validate their own existence by using the loudest and most boisterous skills at their disposal in public areas to be noticed.

Report them for harassment; I don't know. It is really annoying, though.

Why does everyone always jump right to the "Just turn off effects!!! and sounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! herpderpderp loloLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL :P :P :P :P :P :P :P" excuses? Whatever happened to just not being annoying in the first place? Do you really believe that everybody should need to constantly toggle visuals/sounds all the time instead of 1 guy just not being a turd? Come on now.

I mean it's pretty obvious that those who make bad excuses for how to deal with it are the ones who like to spam holy and ring of thorns all over town.

You could just ask them to stop.

Assuming they're all trolls. I'm not saying that none are- but I mean, it doesn't hurt to just be civil and politely ask someone to stop doing something that bothers you. It shouldn't be your kneejerk reaction to plot ways that force them to stop when they may not even know it's irritating in the first place.

I have other players skill effects off to tone up my game experience. It help to see the enemies in FATEs.

Because this is very much a "The remote is too far away" type complaint. While someone spamming you is annoying it's pretty much harmless. When you have the tools to take care of it yourself but choose not to, then the problem lays with you, not the spammer. Also, over policing is never a good answer. Taking away the freedom of everyone just to control a few has never and will never work.

Ugh. Threads like this annoy me. "I want these effect-spammers to stop effect-spamming, but I don't want to turn off my ability to see or hear the effect-spamming because reasons."

I'm not normally one who says this, but for the love of all things sacred, turn off effects from other players (there are separate options for you, your party members, and other players, just as an FYI), turn off sounds coming from other players (again, there are separate options for you, your party members, and other players), report if you feel you absolutely have to, and just... suck it up. It's like you're trying to find something to complain about.
