Why bring MNK to anything anymore?

MNK - DK was always a good utility to have. Im guessing your thinking it was unnecessary because you could just meld vit etc = loss DPS & waste of gil.

MNK afaik still does the single target highest DPS when played correctly, which I've seen mnks not do. Maintain your shit people lol.

As much as It pains me to admit it, since I prefer the BLM/BRD/NIN/DRG(Highest raid DPS )composition, Mantra and DK are still VERY viable especially during progression.

Ehh not necessarily. On T11 for example(since it's just one long ST fight) I've outscored about 6-7 monks as a nin,and that was with missing huton for a whole cycle,and with me having no access to WTFast or any other type of similar service since Im on ps4(mudra lag struggle is real). Ended that run with 589. Their highs start around mid 570s and they have a extremely good understanding of their class. Beat final coil way b4 i did(my first was in early dec). Hell this past week I was missing like crazy in last phase of t11 on nin(had tried a different set with lower acc) and i still ended with 578.

Same with t10, a turn that doesn't have a lot of target turn around. Ive also seen other nins score higher than their monk counterparts in these turns, when both players on each class are exceptional.I dont think people in general really understand just how much dmg a nin can put out on single target vs a monk, especially if the nin is on PC and can use something like WTFast.

Ofc, as a monk I bring DK for progression. Plus it's still nice for t13 as it allows me to just use BFB whenever at this point since my HP is high. Mantra is nice too whenever sh!t hits the fan and you see healers will need some help. The problem I think OP has is that monk used to be the king of ST, and Yoshi P even stated that it's b/c of the effort they have to put in to maintain optimal DPS throughout a practical fight(for our example final coil). However, with more people pushing nin as time passed(even after the nerf), and drg going super saiyan while changing the consequences for their missed 2 positionals to that of monk, the notion of monk being the king of ST isnt really as true as it used to be.

Why NOT have dragonkick? Makes healer life that little bit easier. Gona replace ur monk coz fcob is overgeared now, and get a new one again when alexander raid comes?

Monk 129 here, cleared T13 so I guess I have a good experience on monk.

I think Monk needs a little buff, I'd say better dots for instance.

The reasons are the following :
-Monk is not the top ST DPS anymore, it gets outdps'd by ninja, even on a dummy, and even more on T13 with the same gear.
(Monk 130 on a dummy : 630-640 ninja : 660)
-Monk requires positioning to get its max dps, it can't be achieved perfectly on some FCOB fights : example : earthshackers or megaflare on T13 when you might have to miss a few positionals.

Ninja, on top of having a better dps overall, don't have to worry about positionals, allowing it to dps at its maximum capability, i feel it's kinda unfair because the job is not as rewarding as it used to be.

Of course Monk still has a great DPS and utility, but get outperformed by Ninja (even though dk is really useful it's not mandatory at this level)

I main monk too. I've been clearing T13 for months now.

Monk's positionals are not hard to get, not any harder than Drgs. Lets drop that circlejerk.

Monks don't need to be the highest ST, who cares if they are 2nd highest or 3rd highest. A Good Monk will out dps a decent Nin. Stop looking for buffs, it takes the challenge out of the game. When Monk is completely incapable of actually beating content, then it should get a buff. Every week people cry "Omg Buff Omg Buff pls" after someone post some new parse video or some new rotation or something. If don't like the job, then stop playing it.

I don't understand the point of these threads. If your still progressing through fcob MNK utility is so useful. If you have everything on farm it doesn't matter. Every single class is changing before the next content. So please stop with the pointless threads.

who cares? all 3 of the melee dps are very close in terms of damage if played correctly, and it's not like blm vs smn when second coil came out, or drg vs nin/mnk when final coil came out

I'm not complaining just pointing things out ^^ I won't drop monk because of that DPS difference, it just feels odd to me.
There is no real issue with Monk, but what suprised is what follows :
-At il120 with a 130 weapon, monk a nin dps were the same
-at il130 with a 135 weapon, ninja gets the upper hand by a noticeable difference. It's not huge but big enough to point it out, still not a big issue

So my question is : what will happen when the gear will get even better ? I guess 3.0 will answer that..

Yea the point isnt about something being wrong with monk or being hard, so much as it is what is the devs intent on the position of monk dps. So far theyve communicated that monk should be #1. If they want to keep that design intent, then something will have to change. Ofc when 3.0 comes the changes with Skill Speed along with the additional abilities that monk gets may put them firmly at #1 again.
