Wait, didn't the Sharlying abandon their colony in the mainland Eorzea (near dravania) and moved back to their Island. It gets confusing since both are named Sharlayan.

Yes, they did; with the exception being the Circle of Knowing.
I'm really interested in seeing the abandoned colony (although it's probably now inhabited by someone else). I really hope some of its original architecture is still intact, because it could provide some insight into what Sharlayan proper looks like.
Yes, the info-bombshell will be soon i think at PAX EAST we got more information:

So here's what's fun about Ala Mhigo. Since the beginning of 2.0, you can see it's borders but no one has ever really talked about it, probably cause it's out of the way. If you run to the farthest Northeast corner of East Shroud's map (Goldleaf Dais), look eastward through the trees. This is the only location this wall exists, but it's distinctive enough. If you're lucky and have lightning weather, you can see it even better since the weather effect is always misty.
Originally I thought it was just a Castrum and dismissed it, but the map has a bit of land that extends further than Goldleaf just south and there's no wall at all to connect to the Castrum. There's also a path blocked with a few fallen trees up in Goldleaf that could easily become a zone connection.
the regions without a city are just regions.
The still missing city states are Sharlayan in Dravania and Ala Mhigo in Gyn Abania.
Xelphatol is the exil home of the Ixal, Paglth'an is Amalj'aa homeland and O'Ghomoro (the northern half of Vylbrand) is Kobold land

I think Ala Mhigo come with 4.0 or 5.0
Remember when people would go to the northern tip of Cyrodiil and Oblivion and cry sad tears prior to the release of Skyrim? Then when Skyrim was released it looked nothing like the border at all. That is the equivalent.
It is pointless to think what you see over the border of an "older game" will be relevent to the future.
Just because he wants this to happen, doesn't mean it will happen.

Already confirmed...
Goldleaf Dais is likely to lead to Sylphlands proper (each beast tribe is meant to get its own full on zone eventually iirc). Gyn Abania and Ala Mhigo will almost certainly be accessed through the wreckage around X:34 Y:20 where you can see a very obvious path and get a better look at the wall.
I think Ala Mhigo is more beautiful than Ishgard. Ishgard is a nice fantasy vista but for me it looks cold (well it should look like this) and too dark. I like it don't get me wrong but judging from the artwork Ala Mhigo is much more beautiful or at least it was before Garleans destroyed it. I think many must noticed that the Eorzea map resembles our real world. Eorzea continent resembles Africa a lot and the narrow land which leads to the Garlean Empire resembles Saudi Arabia. This can be also the reason FFXIV put the Domans in the East. So you can only imagine the missing continents and the wonders they hide. But I guess we have to deal with the Garleans first before we move over to new continents.
