It's been answered numerous times:
1. Server side interface
2. Foundation (core) is being redone.

Why is it so difficult? Every MMO since FFXI that I know of or played first-hand has managed to implement this feature either at launch or shortly afterwards.
Honestly its the same functionality that these Forums just recently implemented with the [ item] [/item ] tags; other games use XML for their IRC/chat client and use Xlinks to dynamically link items and tool tips. If SE doesn't use this system currently, they should look into implementing it. Tear it down and start over, just get it done before all of these non-essential fixes or fluff like seasonal events.
Servers issue/ Coding issue it took them about 5years to make Crystal tools then they start making ffxiv. By then crystal tools was outdated when they start working on ffxiv. Reason why FFXIV is how it is now and hard to add anything due to how bad the crystal tool was done. DX9,Lag,issue adding mail system and many other thing are the reason we can't have party search and many other stuff.
Crystal tool was done so bad it was hard to make this game they only start about i would say 1year before E3 of 2009 seeing how the game was only 50% done by gamescom which tell you the game was not getting work on that much due to the delay of Crystal tools. They start making up ideas and such for ffxiv around COP tho.
hahahaha, its nothing to do with server stuff or fundamental core, hell people made mods for games to implement this feature without knowing any of the game stuff, because the community have to do everything to fix any SE game lol.
Kind of pathetic, but you can kind of tell, eg the forum item bbcode is total trash and i find it hilarious it links to zam and is poorly functional.
Cant expect more.
Face it, claiming this to be a next gen mmo is a pretty bold-faced lie. This game lacks even the basics of last gen MMOs. Yes, I still play and enjoy the game somewhat.
There's still no denying that this game feels like a septic tank covered in a layer of roses. It's beautiful on the top but under all of the fancy graphics lays a dated system with almost nothing to be considered next gen, heck it struggles to keep up with the standards of last gen MMOs. Saying things like item-linking would be hard to implement doesn't help your cause one tiny bit.
Extremely difficult under the current badly programmed architecture.
I think your coughed up the wrong name, Kam.
And let's once and for all dismiss this silly urban legend the fanboys created to re-balance their inner haters (not talking about you Kam, but the people that, a while back, decided Hiromichi Tanaka could not have been the one that screwed up the game, so they found the next-in-kin to blame, and invented a story full of back-office backstabbing to convince themselves.)
The only feasible culprit for this sort of pathetic oversight (which by the way, as we all know, is replicated thousandfold in the game's lackings) is Tanaka.
Wada, not precisely an innocent lamb, is a bureaucrat with a financial background (he was once Square's CFO!) that, frankly, could not have been within a mile of the game's code and system implementation. He has no background in system design, coding or game production; he never wrote a line of code, anywhere. That doesn't make him blameless in the FFXIV debacle, but certainly, we cannot blame him for the absence of essentials, like this, the game should have included no matter what.
Tanaka was always the ostrich-like fool, who thought it virtuous not to even try any of the world's other successful MMOs. He designed some good old games, but the world in which they were good changed, and Tanaka never noticed.
Again, this is yet another example of how Tanaka, Garriott, McQuaid, and quite a few others, the pioneers and parents of the MMORPG movement, failed to adapt to the technological leaps that the genre they helped create took as their initial successes aged. This is the typical case of the hero falling asleep amidst his laurels: Every MMO each one of those historic names created after their initial, successful one, was a monumental failure. Remember Vanguard and Tabula Rasa, and the rest?

SE should fire all server-side engineer and employ all new team that have the required experience...
Most MMO can do it but yeah it because of "Server Issue" and "We didn't designed this feature from the start"
