I'll gladly take Hildibrand and his story over that crappy, poorly-written, continuity-error ridden, garbage that is the main scenario.
In with Hildebrand, out with Savage FCOB together with the Bull Loot system.....
I would rather paint a masterpiece than color by numbers.
BLASPHEMY!!!
(I hope Hildy's adventures continue on for the foreseeable future, and don't actually come to a point where we don't see him again)
I'm not crazy about the absurdity of the Hildibrand character, however I think the storylines and cintent are fun and I would like to see more side content like this and Crystal Tower because it adds content as opposed to your suggestion for more focus on Savage Coils which is just rehashing existing content and making it harder. It's much better when they really ADD to the original content like they did with TamTara deepcroft hard. The Savage Coils are just embodied as a bard induced story dream embellishing the original completion... Really doesn't add much to me...
Personally I would like more Hildibrand. It's nice to have some fun stuff happen considering how serious the main scenario story is.
The Hilde cutscenes remind me of some of the quality I was used to in 1.0- not less, moar. Also already said by dev, but while I love the hilde cut scenes the main scenes could not only use greater quality but be darker/more serious - Ascians were scary.. now they're like those guys in a pokemon game you battle for their badge.. xD lol. Serious/dramatic story with whimsical sides is generally how I remember, or like to remember, FF anyways.
Also, moar Hilde ;)
The op mentions savage coil as an example, and no one sees the context.
I'd like many many many other things ahead of Hildibrand on the to do list.
Lots of people on Tonberry has done Savage coil a LOT. I see a lot of the title rewards for the Savage coil, maybe it is just a server-isolated thing.
I am not someone who can do Savage coil however because I cannot set the time aside that requires a static raiding group. OP you cannot make content solely available to one player group. Hildebrand can be completed by everyone, hardcore and casual players alike. Savage coil can only be completed by hardcore playerbase.
Why would SE concentrate on content that only a small percentage can enjoy?
I fall into the category of more of a hardcore gamer. With that said, I get more enjoyment out of the Hildebrand questline than I do from the raids. They are comical, lighthearted, and always good fun. They allow for the inclusion of a lot of classic Final Fantasy staples without having to make content centered around them. If there is something they want to include but it doesn't warrant it's own storyline they can easily make it a side story with Hildebrand.
By the way, you don't have to take away enjoyment from other people to get what you want. Square has the funds to hire developers to make content if they needed. There just hasn't been enough demand from the community yet. We'd rather argue about the cash shop and housing wards even though they have absolutely no real impact on the game. Yay I have a house to go afk at!
