I see, that would make some sense, but it still felt and looked really odd to me while it was happening. Anywho, thanks for the info!

The only thing to look out for with DRG jumps (outside of very poorly timed ones like in T13 Megaflares or something) is T10's Shadow Flare equivalent. Your Jump can and will momentarily enter it, which if unlucky can be death.
They don't place you in the Barofield and you don't have to run out.
Don't pay the visuals any mind; they're just graphics. The only hitbox that matters when it comes to players getting hit by AoEs is a dot right underneath your character, at your circle's center (there may be exceptions, but I'm not aware of any). Some animations will even make your guy walk both feet into an AoE but it doesn't change where that dot is; for example this was my group's first win and you can watch me jauntily thrusting my way into the Barofield the entire time it's up without getting hit.
T10 is different... that AoE is bigger than the boss! I wish we didn't tank the cat on that puddle, as it's completely unnecessary :I
haha ya I did T10 on my DRG as well, so I would have to watch my health bar before jumping into that puddle. Good thig was that there was so much AoE damage going on in that fight that it was always easy to get that HP back
it probably works like regular jumps in this game -- Your position isnt updated until you hit the ground. So it's likely that while your character is doing an animation, server wise, you're considered to be positioned where you started from.
You can be hit by any AoE between your start and destination. You can use good timing on your standard castbar AoE, and you can get lucky with DoT tick zones, but try that with a Twister or something and boom you go.
There is a dragoon in the static I am in and he happily uses jump through out the entire fight. It feels a bit weird watching the links jumping up and down with him.
He only picks up the debuff if he is too slow when the add phase starts or he accidentally steps in to the field. And I can tell you this with confidence since I am one of the people who is doing call outs and making sure everyone is healed and buffed accordingly if they pick up and stacks.
