Nope, I like it. It suits both my keyboard and my gamepad =)

They promised a different UI for the controller players and to develop the PC UI specifically for players who only use a keyboard.
The current one must be the UI that was just designed for PC users because the skill-bar is really horrible on the controller. I'm waiting for news on when the controller players get a proper UI that you can do everything with.
Chat-via chatpad, eat foods, change tabs and an equip screen in a grid to navigate with the D-pad and press right to skip a screen of inventory items.
If they're serious about ever doing a PS3 release this needs to be done BEFORE the ps3 release or it will be a mess that requires players to attach a KB to a console.
Wouldn't it be disadvantageous to choose a menu system? The skill bar is much needed for watching cooldowns. It's why seeing all three bars will be incredibly helpful when they finally patch it in. Although SE could add floating cooldown timers and that would work with both the menu and 1 skill bar system.
With the new BS including auto-attack and the coming changes of setting skills with action points, I totally agree with the OP.
This was the first thing I thought and I really don't like the typical MMORPG Skill bar.
There is no request for deleting the current UI but one to implement an optional FF-UI. I like the idea.
It's also way better to control with a gamepad.
There is no reason to whine about this.
I could see a mix of both systems, for example, a reduced (customizable) skill bar where you could set a "healing spell" icon, from which you could choose your various tiers of cure spells, or a "tp move" icon and so on.
Could be nice to have the ability to set the action bar horizontally (as of now) or vertically (as in previous FF titles) and group some skills under a common icon instead of having to set each individual action on the bar and having to cycle through 30 different icons .
Personally I manually Menu Drove in FFXI without ever touching macros. Even as jobs like White Mage and Blue Mage and Thief, I did everything from the menu.
I asked for a FFIII, FFVII, FFXI hybrid UI option for gamepad users long ago.
Well, so they have to improve or change the current system.
I think its possible to make the traditional Final Fantasy battle UI a little more dynamic.
But it doesn't need to be slower, because the skills and actions are filtered then.
What about the mage spells with aoe function? I can't imagine, how they will do in future and on the PS3 gamepad since there is an extra button for jump? No, i think they want to do the same they did with aoe Cure with every spell and there is way no place to set all those skills on the bar. And if thats true, they'll have to change something.
I hope you understood that xD.
