Although exciting, the only problem I can foresee coming from this is there will be one aspect of specialization that will prove to be the most beneficial and all blm will need to adhere to that one particular specialization or be told to gtfo. They really need to do something like specialization carefully otherwise there is no point to it at all.
Or it could be that each one has a different utility that works best depending on the situation, which would be the ideal.
Fire being great for AoEs (Less powerful than Thunder, more powerful than Blizzard), Blizzard being superior for crowd control (Weakest direct damage, but focuses on inflicting status effects like bind, heavy, maybe something similar to slow or paralysis?), and Thunder being superior for single-target damage (most powerful direct damage).
That way, no one spell set is the most universally powerful. Fire is great against groups of adds, but terrible against bosses, blizzard would be useful in situations where crowd control is critical (like PVP or in areas with ambush enemies that the tank may not be able to handle), but not very good against bosses or enemies immune to Crowd Control effects, and Thunder would be best for single enemies and bosses, but would take a long time to whittle down groups of enemies.
Hmmm this is true, but I don't see that being too different than groups wanting you to have the currently accepted best-in-slot pieces.
I'm most excited because if they implement this well it opens the door for other jobs to get specialization and would add some amount of depth to combat.
So, wait, this is real and not fabricated? And this is for Heavensfall?
If true, I'm happy knowing that we'll have some variety... if not, curse you.

So don't get your hopes upQuote:
This came from the Naoki room stage event on Day 1. They invited guests on stage to have a chat with Yoshida about their FFXIV experiences.
I believe the slides above came from one of the guest, he's part of the FF Tactics team (I didn't catch it fully) and he's suggesting these changes to BLM to make it more interesting to Yoshida. The slides are made by him, doesn't seem like Yoshida was receptive to the idea. I'll go rewatch this part to confirm.
Additionally, the same guest talked about crafting and Yoshida casually just threw a bigger bombshell in the form of DoH/DoL having weekly tomestones like DoW/DoM for gear progression in 3.0.
I thought this was a joke thread about being excited that the Black Mage is being revamped into a healer that uses cards and celestial magic.
On topic, I would like to say that this trope:
while good and varied, has been done a bazillion times before, and I'm glad that it doesn't exist in this game.
What's this about a revamp? Sorry, was looking at Minfillia's....expression of joy
