I've never tested how long it takes for me to run out of TP but I'm never first. Even in T8 I run out the same time as our MNK.

Well, yeah, that depends on uptime. You get free TP while brainjacked, for example, and MTing allows you to Shield Swipe if you're a Pally. I was just talking straight burn with no Shield Swipe.

But now we're kind of off topic, aren't we? Long story short is that you won't get much benefit or disadvantage if you put Skill Speed on a Novus. Might as well stick with Acc/Crit/Det/Parry :)

Be warned though.
If you split your materia into three stats, you will not gain full bonus when upgrading to Nexus.

For example, my Novus was Det 18, Crit 24 and Acc 11 (to fill the rest), because I didn't want to buy several rank IV materias.

When I completed my Nexus, the result was Det 18, Crit 25 and Acc 11. So I've only gained 1 point whereas Nexus can gain up to 3 (No bonus point on Shield Nexus). I don't know yet the bonus you'll het for Excalibut but it already bugs me to "lose" some stat points.

I had 27 Parry and 26 Accuracy on the Sword and gained one of each. While an individual 1 or 2 points provide almost no effect whatsoever, I do hope that the points eventually catch up no matter how silly you melded the Novus.

I had acc/parry on both of mine since it was a safe and relatively cheap way to go. Now that I've got 1) more money and 2) less gear to swap around (since I'm upgrading to ironworks for the time being, my static is working through T9), I respecced my shield to crit/det. It cost about 4mil, simply because I was lazy and bought all the materia. I haven't picked up the Ironworks pants yet; I probably will since the Dreadwyrm Sarouel are in T12. Soldiery is not hard to get, so I may respec some of my acc into det (tier I and II materia are cheap and plentiful) because I'd rather get the tiny benefit from some extra det than have extra accuracy that's doing nothing for me.

If i dont remember wrong going from nexus to excalibur gave +1 on both stats if you only melded 2 what saddens me is that shield dont get any bonus points after initial novus melds even when using only 2 stats on that aswell. Not sure if its intended or did SE just simply forgot to add +1 to either of those 2 stats, because now that ilvl120 IW shield have one more secondary stat even tho its 5 ilvls lower than Aegis.

How come that list shows 34/24 for weapon and 14/12 for shield? currently i have 35/24 on weapon and only 12/10 on shield. Something is wrong with my shield as it still have same amount of stats that i melded in it back in novus stage. Do i really need to edit it to match 13/9 that HA shield had just to get those extra 3 points.

EDIT: Ok reinfused shield with new scroll and it seems you need to maxout atleast one of the stats or you wont get additional stats after novus, so you need to make one of stats in shield 13/13(9/9 if its DET)or you get boned.

I went parry and skill speed. Why? I want to have fun...and save gil. :3
