So what if people sell platinum and gold plans for gil?

What I'm noticing in all these threads is people who don't understand how buying bands from players and buying gil from RMT are two separate things. To clarify:

Buying Eternal Bands from players
Player X bought the band, and wants to sell it. Player Y buys it from him for 5 million gil. That gil was on an active player who was spending it on in game trades. Player X now has it, and if they buy items off the market board or from other players, the gil now belongs to Player Z.

This is currency circulation. There is no inflation of gil being circulated, and is legal.

Buying Gil off RMT bots
Player X decides to go to some shady website. Dont buy the gil, it remains on the bot account and not in the circulation of the game currency. Buy the gil, and now there's an abnormal amount of gil gained through inhuman means.

This gil isn't in the normal market circulation, this inflates the economy. This is illegal.

By the game's logic, both are legal.

They are both being called RMT because real life money was used to buy a digital item, and said digital item is being sold for in-game currency.

Player 1: spends 100 dollars on 5 Bands, and sells them each for 10mil thats 50mil.
Vs
Player 2: Has worked hard since 1.0 to level their crafting classes and sells in game gear/items to other players.

For Player 2 it has taken months of grinding and hard work to make the money that Player 1 has made in just days.
We could also say Player 1 is single, has a stable job and doesn't mind throwing 100 dollars on the game once a month. This means they gain 50mil a month selling Wedding bands (and maybe a little less selling dyed clothes added onto the 50mil)

How is this fair?

It'll probably be cheaper to buy items directly from the cash shop than to get funded through a gil buyer. I think the current price for one million gil is 5 dollars or so. If people sell one platinum plan for 7.5 to 10 million gil which is pretty reasonable then its much easier to just buy it from the cash shop. Instead of paying around 35 to 50 dollars to get funded for RMT.

Just because something is "RMT" doesn't mean it is inherently evil. If anything, the current setup should help curb bots, spammers, etc as people that were looking to do this sort of thing will go to SE for it instead of an outside source. Less spam, less bots, lets hacked accounts and stolen credit card info all around. This is a good thing.

And there it is, nice hit.

I have the feeling already we touched pay to win in this latest patch, just because things like that. Now, to those damn protectors of the cash shop because "optional"...

IS GIL OPTIONAL TOO?!....Issues with materia and novus? No problem, buy something in the cash shop and sell it, solved! At this point we could delete crafting classes.

It's fair because player 2 can do the exact same thing as player 1. Also 10 million? You'll be lucky to see them going for more than 1-2m at the most.
