Lalafells with Deep Voices

The size of the body does not necessarily have that great an effect on the deepness of the voice. The tautness of the vocal cords is the important thing, and if Lala males' voices deepen in the same way that human males' voices deepen, they'd sound pretty similar.

Just look to real life dwarf actors to get an idea of what I mean. Male dwarves voices cover the same vocal range as other human males.

that depends on what type of dwarfism they have. Compare Verne Troyer to Peter Dinkledge for an example of what I mean. It really does have to do with vocal cord size.

That said, even some of the Lala NPCs official voices can be jarring. The Japanese version has the unique distinction of having a character whose voice is actually DEEPER in Japanese than it is in English, which almost never happens. It was extremely jarring to hear a stereotypical old man voice coming out of a tiny lala, especially since Papalymo's voice fits his size pretty well in both English and Japanese.

I had a deep voiced Lalafell. It crept the hell out of his village so he was forced to move to Eorzea. There he dranked some booze and woke up as a mi'qote girl. More info on my blog.

Totally disagree with OP. One of the main traits of the race is how incredible jarring it is. Lalafell looks cute and small, childlike even, yet you only need to pay a little bit of attention to see lots of examples of lalafell commiting crimes, consuming alcoholic drinks, making sexual advancements to other characters, spilling innuendos left and right, and many, many more. Is truly both an amusing and surprising contrast.

I actually love how SE went out of the way to hammer the point that they are adult individuals, more akin to classic dwarfs, by being familiars, crafty and ,in the case of Ul'dah's citizens, very greedy

Them having deep voices is not only possible as said before, but by virtue of being a fantasy game SE is able to take some liberties anyway. But what make them more appropiate is that the deep voices perfectly represent one of the most amusing characterist of the race. If we were to take it away it would just make them a bit more generic cutesy fairy like race.

While we're talking about inconsistencies, Keepers of the Moon are supposed to be broody and loners according to the lore, yet SE gave them the same happy-hippie emotes Seekers of the Sun have (unlike Hyurs who got clan-specific emotes to match the clan's personality). Surely there can be exceptions with very happy and cheerful Keepers of the Moon, but why are we all forced to look cheerful and lively in our emotes?

Do I wish a change? Yes. Do all Keepers wish a change? No. Would some people rage if emotes changed? Yes.

Will SE change emotes? No.

It's the same process for Lalafell voices.

Only one problem; none of the english voice-overs (never listened to japanese version) for lalafells sound like that. Not even Teledji Adeledji sounds anywhere near that level. Some of the players' choice for lalafell voices could compete with Michael Clarke Duncan. Lalafells with deep voices are not canon.

Keep in mind that all other races do pretty much the same. Lalafells however have a very playful manner to their adulthood, even in some serious situations. Just take a look at the male lalafell emotes, and compare them to any other race. I would like for you to explain to me how someone who jumps up and down to wave to someone, who spins around in a circle when they are happy, who flaps their arms around like a bird with boneless wings is more masculine than a highlander who puts a lot of emphasis into displaying their natural vigor in their emotes.

I think they should make Lalafell NPC only just to make guys like you mad.

Lalafells (specifically Dunesfolk) are the master race because we have all the money, we have the sultanate, and we can coerce you beasts tribes to do our bidding.
