They have already confirmed to move EU servers to EU
NA servers are already in NA

Multiple NA servers would be welcome. Wow has 4 locations for their NA servers. Hell swtor even launched and still has NA east and west servers.

They are in Canada which is bad for most people in the US because we all have to go through level3. The US is 10x the population of Canada thats a lot of people being inconvenienced because level3 can't handle the traffic to Montreal. People in west Canada as well have to go through level3 as well and get the same problems as US players.

The worst natural disaster Montreal has to deal with are blizzards and the exceedingly rare earthquake, (the last one I was able to find was recorded in 1732).

Yeah, they just posted confirming someone is DDoSing FFXIV.

That doesn't change the reality that on a weekly or daily basis, people complain about significant lag or disconnect problems in this game and they occur frequently to some players. The poor Verizon FiOS subscribers have it the worst but every major Internet service provider has players who have reported sporadic or regular problems reaching the NA/EU datacenter. I've seen people complain about Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, AT&T U-verse, etc. and the reality is that if this many people have this many problems on a regular basis, it's obvious that the routing to Montreal is really bad. Since Squenix is unable to change the Internet and how it connects to Montreal, they have no choice but to move their datacenters to a location which has better connectivity to the vast majority of their NA player base.

As long as they keep at least one data centre in Montreal, I'll be okay with it.

They already explained whats happening "Regarding the Login Difficulties Caused by Attacks from a Third-party"

You sure its the datacentre and not just the route your isp/connection takes to it? Im connecting to NA server (midgardsormr) from England with mostly only 98-118 ping and only disconnections were back when the game was new. Consering the game supposedly allows for pings up to 200 theres nothing wrong. This probably has nothing to do with attacks happening at hours im not logged in i guess...
Im sure we would all love a server on the doorstep but its never going to suite everybody.

And also, regarding someones comment of jpn servers being vulnerable to natural disasters... weve already experienced that with 1.0 when they needed to reserve power after the tsunami

Just so you know moving the NA servers anywhere else in NA won't matter if you still route though a data solution that has issue. Just so you know if you live in New York and they moved the servers to say, Montana or something and you route through level3.net still it won't change a thing.

The issue is not location of servers, the issue is the route inbetween you and SE, something they have zero control over.

It's actually not, this is something easily googled. California has horrible infrastructure due to its size and large remote areas. Add in the fact it is on the West Coast. The East Coast and Mid-West states routes would be going through some of the worst pipelines in the Country to include many major populations in Canada.

Their first move is getting EU over the pond. This alone will reduce a lot of traffic on the NA Datacenter.

DDoS attacks are another story.
