Yeah, this last patch dealt a severe blow to my trust in SE.
And it's not even just housing.
Chocobo raising for example, that is not the name they should've used to what they gave us. We do not "raise" a chocobo. We simply train an already adult chocobo. And even there, it's just a cutscene with some exp in the end. Not even a mini-game. The coloring system is retarded too.
They should've given us the opportunity to breed chocobos and rise actual chicks, raise them via mini-games that would determine thier color, and have such color be an heritable trait for their offspring and so on. It's not hard and it wouldn't require multiple chocobo whistles either: simply put a window to choose which chocobo you want your whistle to call.
Instead it's just all about spending gil to buy things to rise a chocobo or gardening to make those items yourself, maybe buying the soil since it's difficult to get without a gathering class, etc.
And how about all those lv1 armors with nothing but vanity purposes? Why must they ALL come from super rare materials that drop in endgame dungeons and require a master crafter to make them? Do shops in Eorzea seriously not have civilian clothes, or are adventurers simply banned from them? Why do I have to have a ilvl110 DoW/DoM and a lv50 crafter class to get a damn lv1 t-shirt?
I'm not saying everything should be handed over to us, but as of now it feels all the content a casual non-raider player would enjoy requires huge amount of gil to be made first. Please break this vicious cycle.
At this point, I have very terrible expectations of how Gold Saucer will turn out to be.
