Yep, if you say that, then they can't really bitch at you if you need a few tries. And if you say that, then players might offer some helpful advice. It's also REALLY worth reading both guides on your class and it's also worth checking out a quick guide to the next new dungeon you will face.

Sorry, but I can't agree with this. At one point all of us were playing a MMO for the first time. All of us were tanking for the first time. Everyone has done something at some point first the first time. To say that someone shouldn't play a tank because they are new isn't right. If we went by that logic, no one would have ever played tank because they were new, and who would tank for the all the DPS who wanted to start out on something easy?

I say let people play what they want to play and help them learn, not tell them 'oh you're not good at this, maybe you should play something else.' At one point all of us were learning all of our jobs, and none of us were good.

Yes, but how is one supposed to magically KNOW this information BEFORE they open the can of worms? To me it was just a game. -shrugs- I picked gladiator because it sounded fun. I was doing fine on the main storyline and quests, so I thought it would be the same for a dungeon. Didn't know a thing about enmity.

OP, until you get a keyboard you could try to make a macro with a few canned statements, Like the one I shared above. It should be rather simple to make a macro that just does a quick party chat message. I linked a site that helps you make macros. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I was playing on the ps4 and didn't have a keyboard. And by the time we passed the first two mobs they were irritated and determined to lead on themselves. Leaving me behind, and no time to actually write out a message to them. -_-

No one should magically know, because that shouldn't even have to be an option. People should be able to play what they like and receive help to learn and get better at their chosen class. Not told 'oh well maybe you should try something easier.' This is exactly what happened to my friend. She wanted to play gladiator, thought it looked really fun and loved swords. Tanking on GLD low level sucks beyond all belief... but first dungeon she did me and some friends took her in and helped her out. She got better and went off to do another dungeon. Some high level person told her and the other new people that basically they sucked and got frustrated with them. At this point she's been playing maybe 4 days? Then they tell her, maybe she shouldn't be a tank and play something else.

How can a player base an opinion of how good someone will be on one 30 minute dungeon and only meeting them once, then decided what they should and shouldn't play? She was upset because she loves Gladiator, so I told her look ignore him, keep practicing and get better, you are not a bad tank, just inexperienced. So she did, and she looked up some tutorials, kept practicing and kept running dungeons and shes excited because she can see she's getting better. She said she knows she's not perfect yet, but she won't give up and I support her on that.

I'm not going to tell her 'oh play dps it's easier for your first time', I am going to support the decision she made to play a tank and help her in any way I can until she either becomes a good tank or decides to change on her own accord. Because I can honestly say, I played 3 DPS classes before playing a tank, and it did not help me be a better tank because I was focused on my job and what I should be doing. Not staring at the tank to see what they were doing. I still sucked when I started, I got help from my friends who told me how to play, and what my rotation should be etc.

New players should play what they wanna play, practice get better and have fun. Don't let older players tell them what they should and shouldn't play because they are new.

There are a multitude of guides around the internet. Not only that but your class quests will explain what you need to know (off the top of my head I recall one GLA quest where you have to use Flash to keep mobs off an NPC). Always keep your class and job quests updated since you'll recieve additional skills and information. You should already have Shield Lob by now, this is a long range enmity skill you can use to start trash packs and bosses.

Finally, as all have said a USB keyboard will save you from a multitude of headaches in the future.

Yes it\\'s just a game, but dungeons are a team effort. It\\'s a great idea to at least understand your class/job/role, by the time you hit 30+, it\\'s going to be crucial since Brayflox will be a test to your skill (also please unlock PLD beforehand. The extra stats will benefit you)

You can still write on PS4, a simple, "On PS4, can't write, explain better please".

Well, to start with if you're gonna pick a tank if it's your first MMO it's best to go with MRD/WAR. GLD is such a ridiculous pain at low levels that it even made me consider throwing in the towel and I've got my WAR at 50 using it very regularly on a daily basis, so tanking as a whole is no problem for me.

But yeah, if you're on a console it's best to get some sort of keyboard or w/e to at least have the ability to type back fairly quickly. That extra speed to communicate can help you out a lot. Otherwise try to make some friends, find a fun FC with helpful people and run some dungeons with them to get into the swing of things.

And last but not least; people are -insert whatever word you want here cause I cba to get another ban- sometimes in online environments. You'll get used to it in due time.
