i do this not for mac but for linux, but to say its dumb for people what to play on there own os is silly, i hate windows it restarts after every other update it slugish and closed off why would people want to buy a os to play one game. there are a lot more game made for linux and mac in past 2 years then in any other time for pc, most game engines port linux mac now, the hubble buddle and valve change this gaming isnt windows only thing anymore.

so you want the devs to spend their valuable time to make a MAC version (and have to keep updating it) just because you hate Windows? instead of letting them spend their time to update the game for everyone?

It in the "Please look forward to it" phase.

Why support consoles but not an entire computer operating system? (yes + linux)

More ps3 systems on the market than a niche operating system.
Projected sales of ps4 to surpass that of a niche operating system.

Potential user base is a pretty important figure when making these decisions. People running mac sometimes seem to forget that they are hipsters and are not on something that is anywhere near the most popular system. That does come with drawbacks.

I don't believe it will happen because as of late they have not been including high-powered graphics cards if any at all in most of their products.

i tested out on my mac with boot camp as well as my PC laptop, my PC cannot run FF14 higher then 15 FPS so thats a no go

on my mac when duel booting on normal settings i got 18 FPS better but no cigar so i tested on a game that is out on mac as well with borderlands 2

PC i had 23 fps and slight graphic issues (due to the old 2009 model)
Mac pc bootcamp 23Fps and similar issues
Mac port (on the Mac OS) 60+ Fps smooth and hardly any issues,

when it comes to boot camping windows the internals for the mac isn't up to Window's minimum and the main wiring of the components can cause slight over heating and issues with processing, but when on the main Mac OS it seems to respond better and can be played in a much better way for both the user and computer

a mac port would be vastly welcomed for those to try on mac an dupe for a better graphic use but until then :c we have sad faced mac users

(for the record i have tested and played this game on PS3, PS4 ,PC laptop, Mac and MAC with windows 7 and 8 duel booted )

try to think of it this way, if they released on every platform they wouldn't have need to waste time developing it, at the moment it may be in the back logs but soon they will focus on it and as we have seen from the ps4 version it didn't take out that much :3 its real about how they can work and if they can work macs do have a big user base as well as lunix plus with steam to release steam box a lunix based PC having a game available to play from the get go will bring in more people, to make it short it is in there best interests to port as much as they can if they can, and everything they do towards it is just as vaulebul as the other things they do that most people ignore

While I would much rather play XIV on my Mac...I don't see it happening any time soon. Japan simply hasn't adopted Mac as much as America has yet.

Trust me when I say I wouldn't have a PC at this point if it wasn't for XIV. I can do everything else I need better on a Mac or Linux computer.

The link I posted earlier is an "announcement" of the mac port. I have a retina mbp early 2013 model with GT 650m. The game can run at 60 fps if it's run full screen (1600 x 1050) with standard laptop settings. Personally I wouldn't game on a mac with an Intel integrated chip (this is tantamount to Windows users saying they wouldn't game on a mac). Apple still sells macs with discrete gpus; they just sell them at a premium now, which is ridiculous since they were selling the same base model $500 less a generation ago.
Macs may be a niche market, but I'm sure this niche market contributes a not so insignificant subscriber count to W.o.W's 6.8 million subscriber base. Blizzard took the time and energy to make a mac client - what's so wrong with Square doing it?
