Spells/limit break/"combat" mode vs "idle" stance. I imagine there are a number of ways to keep them pocket sized/temporarily so- without forever looking like one of tinkerbell's palls lol


In terms of OP though, if they added specialized limit breaks for summoner.. which summon would be used for which tier? Or would it use the summon you currently have out? That'd mean if they add a new summon they'd have to add a new limit break, and possibly a new effect/purpose. I think they could save some leg work by having the first two be a SMN focused actions and the last tier based off your summon. At least that way you dont have 3 unique LBs per summon, that's a lot.

Yea but instead of having three different casts from one primal just have their special ability and it get stronger from the level of LB used, like Ifrit for example make it so you summon him and he uses Hell Fire and the damage scales the higher the lb level

Given that SE has mentioned looking into Job-specific Limit Break animations, I don't think it's entirely out-of-the-question to imagine that the Primals may be involved in some way with SMN's limit break animation. I don't expect SMNs will ever summon full-sized Primals outside of rare situations of that sort, but Limit Breaks? I could see it. No worry about screen clutter that way (at least, no more than that caused by current Limit Breaks, such as Meteor).

As hilarious as it would be to see a party of eight SMNs all lugging around full-sized Titans, I think the humor would wear thin pretty quickly. XD

I really like the FFXVI SMN job, it is my favorite job currently in the game. Specifically, I like how it adds a DoT output and gives the actual player some responsibility in their spells, rather then just sending out the summon to do it.

That being said, I think there is a lot they can do when it comes to the egi. I am less concerned by their appearance, and more the fact we are forced to use just one to be honest. I say give the player Contagion and let the pet be either a situational thing or just a personal choice. In regards to the egi designs, they perfect but I do not mind them. I quite like them in a way, although it would be nice to see the larger ones involved somehow. I like the idea of the SMN LB being a larger Primal, perhaps reflecting the one you have summoned? Enkindle could be used in a similar way too.

One of the few negative aspects of this game being a FF title, is the fact that people have certain ideas when it comes to aspects such as summons, so I am unsurprised to see some dislike there current state. As I said, I like the summoner class as it is and I would hate for it to be diminished by trying to copy, say, the FFXI version. It should be a unique job in its own rights, not a flat imitation.

We definitely do not want the SMN limit break to be dependent on the egi in any way. Egis do die, and swiftcast may not always be available - it'd suck if this rendered the SMN unable to perform their Limit Break in a pinch situation (and if your egi is dead and swiftcast is down, that's a pretty good sign you're in a pinch situation).

So basically, you don't like summoner, you like the rebranded WoW class :p Summoner in the series has the ability to use spells (White or Black magic) but was never THE focus of the job, which is why people largely have issues with egi aside the appearance, they're fairly useless in comparison. Garuda has the biggest use since it further enhances your DoTs.

Then it would be an actual Summoner. Hell my Garuda in XI has a million times more use than the one in XIV, if we're to compare. The main argument against it is: "Summon then release" which hasn't been true since 2004-2005.
