Yes but people don't often consider the legit reasons that things are the way they are. People are generally quicker to say that the "Devs are lazy" (in the case of SMN pets) or SE are "ignoring their playerbase". Both of which are pretty insipid discussions to have. I dunno, it bothers me, even though I should be used to it after seeing the inane complaints people had through 8 years of XI.Quote:

Ninjas have been able to 'tank' in a couple FF games - V had !Image, XI had its shit, Bravely Default's Utsusemi negates like 70% of the attacks in the game which makes it absolutely stupid. But I've said it before and will repeat it forward - these were by and large accidents as opposed to deliberate design, and XIV is extremely deliberate in its design.Quote:

I'm so tired of people crying everytime someone mentions FFXI here.
It was a great game, and some of it's features would be nice ti have in ARR.
Do people want for ARR to be FFXI ? I don't think so, otherwise they'll be playing FFXI right now.
Do people want stuff from FFXI to be in ARR ? Hell yes (hello Sky, Sea, ZNM, Nyzul Isle and most of all, a dangerous world that is actually interesting to travel to)
And, nin tank was interesting because it was an entirely different tanking style than pld.
And we need that, because the way pld and war tank is pretty much the same.
But i'm fine with nin being dps, since it was like that in every Final Fantasy beside FFXI (even if it also should have been a dps) -

Ninja are the complete opposite of tanks, they move in the shadows, and aren't meant to fight toe-to-toe. That's samurai.
Anywho, I think SE designed RDM to be a hybrid. A mix between a melee and mage. Instead, the players turned it into a piss-poor healer and Refresh bot. Same thing with NIN. SE designed NIN to be a DPS with elemental Debuffs, instead the players decided to make it a piss-poor tank.
SE must have learned from this and said "Ok players, you WILL play this class/job the way we designed it. There will be no tanking abilities at all for NIN this time HAR HAR HAR". In fact, since NIN is based off ROG, I'd even go so far as to say ROG will have some enmity shedding abilities that will be passed on to the NIN, further cementing the fact that they did not design NIN to be a tank this time around.
