Sounds to me like he has confidence in the quality of his game rather. If there is one thing FF14 arr has impressed me with, it's the huge amount of content released with every major patch (hell even before a major patch at that). This is something that NO other MMO has been able to accomplish. And I for one am very pleased to see Yoshida kept his promise to release classes with patches rather than just expansions.
For those upset about the lack of MSK... technically when Yoshida first made his comment about releasing more classes he specifically said that he wanted to implement a stealth class first and foremost, as he thought the game severely lacked one. He also said that he felt obligated to release a gun class as well since there is already a guild in the game (didn't seem particularly enthused about it though). It makes sense though to go easy on the class releases for pvp reasons when the class released is the one and only stealth class. Stealth adds a whole new level of complication to pvp after all.
I'm more interested in his comment about the gun class in the interview. He stated that it would be similar to a mage class.
"So now, as Yoshida said, they want to start with Rogue instead of a class with guns which will be similar to mage class that uses magic, but he mentioned they did have the plan to introduce in new class with guns or sort of stuff."
When I thought of a gun class, I suppose I thought it would play rather similar to archer/bard but... this is rather interesting as well :) Gun Mage?
