Why does everyone blame the tank?

There is no reason. There's no reason to not do your class quests which guide you to your job quest anyways. If you're above 30 and don't have your job yet, then you are being lazy, simple as that

A very simple reason, he just didn't know. This is why he asked how to do it.

I'm always confused by people who don't know about the job quests...they are in the SAME exact place you've been getting all your quests and the icon appears after you hand in your lvl 30 quest. Do people seriously not go run up and check what this new icon that popped up is? It's like 5 yalms away.

DPS and healer doesnt have job crystal... must be the tanks fault
im surprised theres not a meme out there with the punchline "must be the tanks fault"

Probably the same people that haven't done any class quests and don't have any of the extra class skills.
I could definitely see how that could happen if you never went back to the Guild.

They only pop up after you reach level 15 in your subclass and do your level 15 class quest there as well. If a new person doesn't know what their sub class for their job is, they'll never see it.

Not true. You get the big red icon that pops up if you don't have your subclass leveled. Every trip to Old Gridania reminds me that I should really go get MRD to 15 to unlock DRG.

I didn't when I got GLA to 30 for PLD. I had to get CNJ to 15 and do that class quest before I ever got a quest icon.

You'll still have the mark, but it'll be the red locked quest icon and when you interact with the NPC, it told you you didn't have the subclass

As a first time player, I would highly recomend for anyone new not to tank.Also, make sure you don't do the same combo too many times as the far "Superior" players will make sure to mock you even though you're doing your job. Sure you run into some good groups, but the majority will be ugly as is life with any mmorpg. Sure it is easy to antidote yourself, but let's face it, focussing on the fight is where you'll be at.
