Nope. I don't want a feature because

1) I see no use in it. It adds roleplay but you can already roleplay it (minus the wedding dress for women I guess. But it doesn't need to be like RL weddings). Roleplayers don't really need it officially to have their ceremonies. Other players mostly didn't consider it before SE promised it.

2) it brings too much flame and hate in the community to be considered as a "good" feature the way it is now. I'd rather not have it at all than having it and seeing the community being shattered because of troll wars.


I will probably use it, and play around with the little extras they'll put (dual seat chocobo, maybe teleportation skill or other stuff like that) but that's all. I don't need it. And I wasn't expecting much from it at start

hmmm, nope ? I asked to remove the marriage part to make it a bond between lovers under the name of Menphina. If you ever read the on-going topic actually asking about ssm, you would have seen that I don't care at all about ssm or other stuff. I am even against the whole concept of wedding in a video game apart from RP (and again, RPers don't *need* an official feature to "get married", they can just RP it. Official feature just provides them an other tool).
Please, I asked for polite debate out of flame war, do not start throwing straw men in the thread.

The issue can not be oversimplified to simply an issue over the definition of the word marriage. Please reference the south park episode about this exact topic.

HOWEVER, that doesn't devaule making the events/procedures/etc actually have a distinctly Eorzean flavour instead of just tacking on "oh look it's marriage!". That's got nothing to do with who is or isn't able to do it. We don't have Easter, we have Hatching-tide. Ya know?

I agree but I don't think we need to worry about it having eorzean flair. In in XI they had some culture to it. I have no doubt it will feel distinctly eorzean.

I like the idea. Menphina's been my guardian ever since 1.0 ^ ^

Side rant:

SE is the only one to blame here, though. They could have just added the system, free for all, without no big announcement or asking (multiple times, LOL) for our opinion and no one would get their panties in a bunch that 2 male Roegadyn or 2 female Elezen are taking an oath in the Sanctum Of The Twelve.
Ultimativelly, they're the ones stirring up drama. To put it politely....

People got this much upset about multiple things. Goobbues, vanity mounts, jumping, instances, cooldown timers, lockouts.... and who can forget the grass. SE put it all in game and what happened? Nothing.
