Juniglee,
Reddit? I tried www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/ and http://www.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasy/. I can't make heads or tails out of either sites. Can you direct me exactly to where I should go? (I tried to PM you in order to avoid wasting people's time reading my drivel, but I found no PM option.)
www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/ - this is the one
Check from time to time. I believe recently someone has uploaded leve guides for leveling crafting classes from 15 - 50. Or try the search function there.
As someone said above you'd want to get all the classes to lv50 since the more cross skills you have, the better, and you'll always need materials that are made by other DoH craft.
But if you are new and short on money my advice would to focus on this ones first:
- Carpenter to 50 to get Byregot's Blessing
- Blacksmith to 15 to get Ingenuity
- Culinarian to 37 to get hasty touch and steady hand II
- Weaver to 50 to get Careful Synthesis II and to be able to craft a Patrician Set which is enough to craft lv50 2 star items.
Those skills will be the ones you'll use the most to HQ crafts.
Of course there are other nice skills to have like goldsmith "innovation" and alchemist "thick of the trade" and "confort zone"....but you can work on those later.
There are some leve guides I've used from Ashley at GameSkinny. Google should pull it up.. She's done a lot of work to recreating the leve information and recipes for every crafting class.
You will want to level all crafting classes to at least 15 to get their CC skill. Pick one or two "main" crafting classes and work on those. Various classes compliment each other. Leatherworker uses some cloth, Weaver uses leather, Armorer uses a lot of leather, Blacksmith uses carpenter for wood, etc. Make sure to level a gathering class as well, will save you a lot of money.
Great, great information. Thanks very much. I how have a wealth of info on crafting, so thanks, all!
